Metal Churchのカート・ヴァンダーフーフ（g）率いるプログレッシヴ・メタルバンド、Presto Ballet。

基本はプログレッシヴ・メタルですが曲を聴く限りではプログレッシヴ・ハード・ロックに近い印象を受けました。

キーボードのメロディーを大胆にフィーチャーした曲にカートの放つギター・リフ＆ソロ、そしてヴォーカルの甘い歌声とアコースティックギターのメロディーが上手く絡んだ素晴らしい作品に仕上がっています。

プログレといっても彼等の曲はドリーム・シアターの様な複雑な構成で展開されているわけではないので非常に聴きやすく、初心者の方でも安心して聴く事ができます。

アコースティックギターの奏でる美しいメロディーが印象的なバラード、時にディープ・パープルを彷彿させる曲等聴き所満載のアルバムです。

そして何よりもこのアルバム、メチャクチャ音がいいです。

あまり期待をしていなかったのですが、商品説明を読んでみて、
ひょっとしたら・・・と思って聴いたみたところ大正解でした。

ドライブ感、メロディ、印象的なフレーズ・・・満載のとても
素晴らしい作品です。ハモンドオルガンが非常に効果的な旋律を
奏でています。メロトロンも素晴らしい・・・しかも、非常に
よく練られた楽曲ですし、０６年前半に出会った作品の中では
出色のデキだと思います。

ＤＴほどのテクニックに走るでもなく、複雑な曲展開命でもなく、
聴きやすく、印象に残りやすいサウンドです。
プログレ・メタル好きの方、ハードロック好きの方には大変満足
いただける作品ではないでしょうか。
ジャケットデザインとかバンド名は今ひとつピンとこないのですが、
とにかく敬遠しないで一度あたってみてはいかがでしょうか・・・

アメリカのプログレメタルバンド、プレスト・バレットの1st。2005作
METAL CHURCHのカート・ヴァンダーホーフを中心としたバンドの一作目。
適度なテクニカルな展開にキャッチーなメロディを乗せたサウンドは、
メタルというよりはSPOCK'S BEARDのような感触のハードプログレとして楽しめる。
メロトロンやハモンドなどをふんだんに使ったキーボードワークも聴きどころで、
レトロなプログレ感覚とメロディアスなプログレハードの融合した高品質作だ。
