ＮＨＫ朝の連続テレビ小説『ちりとてちん』の劇中歌として使われた「Wings to Fly〜翼をください」を聴き、各種問い合わせとネット検索をかけ、このアルバムに辿り着きました。

彼女が他のクラシカル・クロスオーバー系の歌手たちと決定的に違うのは、曲をつくって、詞を書き、自分で歌えるシンガーソングライターであることですね。

ほぼ３年前のアルバムにもかかわらず、「キセキ」「Gloria」「Tendery」「ダイヤモンド」といった彼女のオリジナル楽曲たちは、これからシングルカットしてもおかしくないレベルにあり、ドラマのタイアップソングに選ばれなかったのが不思議なくらいです。特に「Gloria」については、私家版“平成のJ-POP名曲ベスト10”に入れてしまったほどに素晴らしい楽曲。ミドルテンポの曲調に、中音域から高音域にかけての透き通るような独特の美声がよくマッチしています。

クラッシックの名曲たちの旋律を自らの楽曲に取り込むというアプローチは、下手をすると原曲の良さを冒涜しかねない禁断の手法ともいえますが、カノンの場合は、原曲に対するリスペクトが随所に感じられ、すべての楽曲においてクラッシックと現在が極めて高いレベルでクロスオーバーされています。

「奏でられる音たちが花となり、皆様の心の中で永遠に咲き続けることを夢見て・・・」という言葉がスリーブに添えられていますが、この言葉には音楽界の先人たちや自分が生み出した楽曲に対する真摯な姿勢が感じられます。売れることだけが自己目的化してしまっている昨今のアーティストたちとは明らかに一線を画す存在であることが伺い知れます。

ヒットチャートぐらいしか追いかけていない人々から正式に音楽教育を受けた人々までが楽しめる完成度の高いアルバムです。

どこかオルゴールのような柔らかい、
それでいて印象的な発声に魅力があるように思う。
ＮＨＫドラマ『ちりとてちん』の挿入歌として知った人も多いのではないだろうか？
私はドラマの中で聞いた『翼をください』に魅了された。
アルバム全編はクラシックのアレンジが多く、
その独創的なアレンジには賛否両論あるかもしれないが、
美しい歌声は、なんと素晴らしい調べであろうかと、感嘆の息がもれる。
目をつむると、そこに舞う天使の姿さえ見えてきそう。
それほど可愛らしく、優雅な歌唱力と選曲である。
クラシックベースではあるが、日常、車の中で聴くのにもいい。
