　本作品はバンド解散後の長い沈黙の末、発表された。明らかに前作の流れをくむ「ヒューマン・タッチ」や、「明日なき暴走」を彷彿させる「ロール・オブ・ザ・ダイス」等、彼自身の歴史をつづるかのような集大成的な楽曲群が特徴だ。したがっていわゆるアナログ版のＡ面に当たる１〜６曲目までは、彼の作品には珍しく統一感に欠ける感じがするが、すさまじいのは７曲目以降である。最終曲まで一気に聴かせてしまうその勢いは、全１４曲ある大作にもかかわらず、最後まで飽きさせないという優れたアルバムだ。特にリズム隊が素晴らしい。Ｅストリート・バンドはいかにもマッチョで硬質なドラムやベースが特徴だが、今回のメンバーたちはファンキーでしなやかな演奏でブルースの新しい魅力を引き出してくれている。しかし、しばらくぶりのアルバムだというのに、ファンには嫌われたようだ。アメリカ国民の芸能に対する保守ぶりが伺える。

非常に長い間、隠遁生活を続けたBOSSから久しぶりに届けられたアルバム。
これと「Lucky Town」が出た時は店に飛んでいって購入した。
隠遁の間に彼は住居を西海岸に移し、結婚し、子供もできた。
その長い間の道のりをつづったアルバムであり、内容はバラエティーに富んでいる。
しかし正直なところものすごく期待して買ったのだが、今ひとつピンとこなかった。
バックバンドが変わったせいかもしれないし、Bruceの生活環境の変化に付いていけなかった
だけなのかもしれない。長い間熟成しすぎたことが新鮮さを奪っているのかもしれない。
ただ未だにピンときていないことだけは続いている。
Bruceとの付き合いもこれまでかと思ったが、どっこい彼はこの後もう一度上昇気流に乗る。
そういう意味で過渡期のアルバムなのだろう。
紙ジャケは出来がいいが、当時私はCD買っているので再現度等はよくわからない。
