<ストーリー>
悲惨な最期を遂げた父の物質転送の研究を引き継いだフィリップ。しかし、研究を独り占めしようとした助手が、蝿を恐れる彼を無理やり蝿と共に転送、父と同じ悲劇が再び起きてしまう。そして、蝿男フィリップの復讐が始まった……。

   前作「蠅男の恐怖」のヒットを受けて翌年製作された続編。前作がきらびやかなテクニカラー作品であったのに対して、本作ではモノクロを採用。悲劇性が濃厚な前作から一転、サスペンス性を全面に押し出した復讐劇として描かれており、蠅男の特殊メイクもより不気味なものになっている。
   物質移送機を開発した科学者アンドレは、蝿男となって非業の死を遂げる。それから数年後、息子のフィリップがアンドレの研究施設を継承する。ところが研究が金になると確信する助手の手で、フィリップは父親と同様、蠅男にされてしまう。
   様々な人物の企みや陰謀が交差する、一種の推理エンタテインメントとなっているが、やはり前作の印象が強烈な作品ゆえ、描くべき事象を広げすぎ、内容が散漫になった感は否めない。怪奇映画でお馴染みの俳優ヴィンセント・プライスが前作に引き続き、アンドレの弟フランソワ役で登場する。(斉藤守彦)

前作は、発想、展開もさることながら、ラストがとても衝撃的な作品だったが、それと比べるとどうしても見劣りしてしまう。一般的なサスペンス映画の趣が強く、ラストもなんとなく読めてしまう。いわゆる「2作目」的作品。そこそこ面白いが、ちょっと残念。

前作にあったｽﾄｰﾘｰ性、ｻｽﾍﾟﾝｽは全くなく、蠅男のｲﾝﾊﾟｸﾄとV.ﾌﾟﾗｲｽに頼っただけといいたくなるような作品です。前作が名作だっただけに、余りに安易な続編の作られ方が残念で仕方ないです。
