何かすばらしい音楽的な主張などは期待しないことだ。しかし、あなたが快活で心地よいリンゴ・スター・ブランドを愛する多くのファンのひとりなら、オール・スター・バンドのポップ・アルバム『Choose Love』（邦題『チューズ・ラヴ』）にがっかりさせられることはないだろう。たしかに、収録されている歌には（タイトルどおり、ほとんどが愛の歌だ）歌詞に上でも音楽的にも目新しいところはないのだが、リンゴの終始並外れた声と、『マジカル・ミステリー・ツアー』（原題『Magical Mystery Tour』）時代のビートルズとトラヴェリング・ウィルベリーズのいいところとロカビリーをほんの少しミックスしたマーク・ハドソンのプロデュースがトラックにぴったりと合っている。聴きどころは、シャッフルの「Give Me Back the Beat」（邦題「ギヴ・ミー・バック・ザ・ビート」）、12弦ギターを使ったジャングルの「Some People」、クリッシー・ハインドとデュエットしたにぎやかなサイケデリアの「Don't Hang Up」（邦題「ドント・ハング・アップ」）、ビリー・プレストンのオルガンとロバート・ランドルフのむせび泣くようなスティール・ギター、ザ・ローズ・ストーン・ゴスペル・クワイヤをフィーチャーし、誠実な思いを歌った「Oh My Lord」（邦題「オー・マイ・ロード」）。「Oh My Lord」は、“静かなビートル”（ジョージ・ハリスン）の草稿メモの1ページからそのまま取ってきたような（事実、リンゴはこれをジョージの「マイ・スゥイート・ロード」（原題「My Sweet Lord」）だと考えており、当初のデモはオリヴィア夫人のために演奏された。「ジョージが喜ぶと思った」からだという）曲だ。ビートルズの美学は『Choose Love』全体にわたっている。中にいくつかの例外があるが（「長く曲がりくねった道（The Long and Winding Road）はただの歌じゃない/何が起こるか（What Goes On）、明日のことはわからない（Tomorrow Never Knows）」）、それで万事うまくいっている。リンゴのファンは喜ぶだろうし、オールディーズ番組のリスナーはウィッシュリストに新しいアイテムを加えることになるだろう。（Benjamin Lukoff, Amazon.com）
