１９９９年発表の本作はデビュー３０周年、アリスタ移籍第一弾、バンドにとっては２８年ぶりの全米第一位を獲得しました。野口五郎なども取りあげた「Smooth」はバンドにとって初の全米第一位シングルとなりました。第４２回グラミー賞では、アルバム賞、レコード賞、楽曲賞、ロックアルバム賞、ロックボーカルグループ賞、ロックインスト賞、ポップボーカル賞、ポップボーカルグループ賞、ポップインスト賞の９部門を受賞したモンスターアルバムなのです。多彩なゲストを招いて全体的にポップな作りになってるせいか、１９７０年代来の往年のサンタナファンから見ると少し残念？？？しかしながら一曲一曲贅沢且つ、丁寧な作りになっており「Smooth」は勿論のこと「El Farol」や、エリッククラプトンとコラボした「The Calling」はとてもGOOD!!
