　　本作品をチェンバロで弾くうえの標準的演奏と言える録音だ。「標準的」というのは、水準を満たしている、という意味ではない。本アルバムに達しないレベルの演奏がほとんどだからである。
　レオンハルトはなぜか第二巻の録音を先行させ、この第一巻を後回しにした。使用チェンバロもフレミッシュ・タイプからフレンチ・タイプに変更しているので、録音年代の変化とともに使用チェンバロの変化も反映して、音の印象がかなり違うので、それは注意しておいたほうがよい。
　しかしレオンハルトの演奏スタイルにはほとんど差は見られない。そして第二巻よりも第一巻のほうが音楽のクオリティが上の分、それだけレオンハルトの演奏の威力が発揮されていると言えるだろう。
　ピアノ演奏のような派手さはないが、「どうして不自由なチェンバロをわざわざ使うのか」という問いに対して十分な解答を出している名演である。

貧乏なのでキティちゃんの
腕時計は買えてもチェンバロは
買えないのでＣＤで我慢です。
