実話だというので驚きました。
暗いボクシングジムの壁に太極旗が飾られているのはともかく、大統領の写真まで。
韓国は強いボクサーを過去に排出していますが、きっとハングリーな連中が大勢居たのでしょう。
この映画の主役「キム・ドゥック」の様に。

30歳を過ぎているにもかかわらず、あそこまで身体を鍛え上げたユ・オソン氏には敬意を表すしかありません。
「アタック・ザ・ガスステーション」の無鉄砲の頃よりマッチョでした。ボクサーの役だから当然か。
恋人役のチェ・ミンソさんは初見でしたが、イ・ミヨンさんにちょっと似た美人で大熱演でした。

元東洋ライト級王者キム・ドゥック（金得九）の23年の生涯を描ききった作品。かれは、1982年、世界タイトル挑戦者としてアメリカに行き闘った。そして死去したのである。
これがボクシングだ。
真面目で無駄が全くない作品。
イタリアの種馬『ロッキー』ではない。漫画『あしたのジョー』でもない。
現実を教えてくれる。
ボクシングが　こんなものであったのかを　あらためて知ることができる。
主人公を演じきった ユ・オソンはすごい俳優である。
身も心も主人公になりきっていた。
今頃の　日本のボクシング界が　ショーになった。白井義男が戦後世界チャンピオンになり、日本国が涌いていた時代を知っている者としては不愉快な感を抱いている。この作品は「あの頃のボクシング」であった、
この映画は　「真のボクシング」なるものを教えてくれているようだ。
懐かしい画面。時に回顧。
節度ある恋愛。とにかく主人公は真面目なのだ。
母が３回結婚し、そのたびごとに「姓」が変わったというキム・ドゥック（金得九）。父がいないものは「犬」とい姓をつけられると酒飲みながら友と話す。あまりにも悲しすげる生い立ち。

ラストシーン。彼が死後、13年経過し、ジムに主人公そっくりの少年が元会長とともに訪れる。
ジムも閉じられていたのだ。そして、あの　主人公が　必死に練習していた時代が甦ってくる。感動。
なぜ13年後なのか。ひょっとしたら主人公が夢みていた息子の幻影かもしれない。
