1.0Wという従来のLEDにない明るさで、まさに「強烈な明るさ」です。最近は小型LEDを多数並べた製品をよく見かけますが、このLEDは一見豆球ですが、その光の白さは感動的です。しかもLEDにありがちな「遠方はぼんやり」は無く、くっきりです。
連続点灯１０分くらいすると本体がかなり熱を持ちます。

LED多灯タイプと比較するとかなり明るいのは確実。精密機械などの非常に細かい手作業などには、明るすぎて向かない場合もあるかも(?)。また、夜間に数十メートル先まで「確実」に視認したいという用途にはちょっと物足りないであろう(デカマグライトの方が明るいようだ)。
しかし、携帯性、連続点灯時間、輝度、価格を考慮すると非常にバランスのよい品物だと思う。３Ｗ以上のタイプは、点灯時間が短いので…
あと、頭の部分を取り外して使用すると、柔らかな光が全体的に照らしてくれるので便利。

このライトを壁に照射すると、ぼんやり明るい円の中に明るい円がある目玉のようなパターンになります。色は真っ白です。
壁から２ｍ離れた場合、ぼんやり円が直径２ｍ・明るい円が直径45cmでした。広範囲を照らせるというイメージを持ちました。
重心は本体中心付近にあり、フルメタルの外観の為か手中にすっぽり収まる為か、重いという印象は持ちませんでした。

私は主に家で使う為に購入して下駄箱に常備してあります。夜中に物置へ行く時に使うのですが、意味も無く遠くを照らして楽しんでいます。
本体価格はこのレベルのLEDライトでは安いほうだし、アルカリ電池利用なので気軽に使えます。いい買い物でした。
ただ、「１ｗでこの明るさなんだから３ｗだったら…」と、ついつい欲が出てしまいます。
