Peter Hammillのsoloはとても好きだったけど、Peter Hammillが並行してやってたこのバンドのアルバムは聴かず嫌いだった。Peter Hammillのアルバムにかなりハマっていた時には、これほどのsoloアルバムを作るという事は、余程バンドがつまらないなのか、、とさえ想像してた。いい曲はsolo用に温存して、、みたいな。実際、そういう時期もあったかもしれないけれど、少なくともこのアルバムはかなり充実してる。バンドの演奏は大仰だけれど、決して悪くはない。Peter Hammillは時々、物凄く力強く歌う。でも彼のchilling vocalは良い。大仰な演奏にもハマってる。

中間部のカオスがたまらなくカッコいい、A plague of lighthouse keepers。シンセのアルペジオ。構成は複雑というか、詰め込みというか、構築された感じではないような気がするけれど、そのほうがPeter Hammillのやや神経質な声には似合ってる。

もはや通り一遍の感想なんかじゃ語りきれない超名盤です。圧倒的にクオリティが高い!!

デヴィッド・ジャクソンの壮大なダブル・ホーンが暴れる「Theme One」は何時聴いても生気
がみなぎるマスターピースだし、「Man-Erg」なんかは初めて聴いたときは度肝を抜かれまし
たね。中盤のインスト部分は衝撃的すぎる、なんだこの音はと...。

だが何よりLPのSide twoすべてを覆いつくした23分の一大音絵巻が素晴らしすぎる。およそ
尋常じゃない、いびつな時間と空間が堪能できますよ。こればっかりは聴かなきゃわからない
凄さ。およそどのジャンルの音楽でも体験できない快楽サウンド（!）。ハミルも憑かれた様
に咆哮していてこっちまで嬉しくなる。プログレを超えた究極のプログレとも云っていい至福
の産物に仕上がっていてプログレファンは勿論すべての音楽愛好者にお奨めしたい。

矢継早に繰り出されるエキセントリックなフレーズの数々に是非酩酊してみてください!中毒
になること非請け合い（笑）。聴き過ぎ注意!!?!??!

この作品を聞かずに何を聞く？ というくらい最高の一枚です。最近、再結成し日本にも来ましたが、そのライブも衰える事なく素晴らしいの一言。
