　四次元を聴いて私はひと昔前の懐かしいミスチルの詩を、歌を思い出す。肩の荷が下りたように見える今の彼らの歌はもう窮屈な感じがしない。この頃、ミスチルを見ると無性にただ歌が好きだったあの頃を思い出す。私には彼らの迷走期間が長かったような気もするが（私と同じ問いを共有してきた人たちも中には居るかもしれない、ヒットは確かに出ていたが、それでも、、、と）、原点に返ってきたといったところか。これはミスチルの彼ら自身による彼らへの歌でもあるかのようだ。嘗ての彼なら「ランニング・ハイ」のような詩は書けなかったはずだ。それは彼らが前へ進んできたという証だろう。ミスチルの足跡が垣間見える。「and I love you」は胸に迫ってくる歌だ。そう言えば、ミスチルはこういう歌が得意だったなと思い起こす。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　ミスチルが溢れているＣＤです。彼らも無性にただ歌が好きだったに違いない。４曲ともいい味を出している。どの曲にも聴き惚れそう。久しぶりに日本のＣＤを買いましたよ。もう何年ぶりかも忘れたぐらいに。この眼鏡、５つ星と見ます。文句なしですね、はい。これでこの値段、聴かず嫌いはもったいないですよ。これが彼らの今の形です。歌う者が誰であれ、いい曲はいい曲です！それが音楽というものでしょ。ここ最近の彼らの詩、歌は素直に優しい。また一歩前進した彼らの詩、歌を聴く。しばらく病みつきになりそうです。

他のどの曲も本当にすばらしいのですが、
私は「and I love you」が一番好きです。
初めて聞いた時、涙ぐんでしまいました。
CMで曲はもちろん知っていたし、音楽番組でも
聞いていたので「いい曲だなぁ」と思って買ったのですが、
音楽番組で歌ってなかった部分があったんです。
「どうしようもなく急に一人になりたい時があり~
というところなんですが。
ここを聞いて泣きました。
桜井さんの「気持ち」みたいなものがすっごい伝わってきて、
言い表せないような気持ちを共感できました。
ミスチルは本当にすごいとまた再認識する曲でした。

　このマキシにも収録されている“未来”、“and I love you”、“ランニングハイ”が収録されたアルバム『I ♥U』が発売された今となっては無用の長物という感がなくもない本作。だが、アルバム未収録の“ヨーイドン”が収録されていることによってこのマキシの価値はとんでもなく高いものになっている。

　『IT'S A WONDERFUL WORLD』以降、自分たちの鳴らすべき音に対して自覚的になった彼らの楽曲はどんどん神がかったものになっていき、ラブソングにも初期のような甘酸っぱさや初々しさは失われていった(それはそれで素晴らしいのだけど)。しかしこの“ヨーイドン”では本当に久しぶりに初期の彼らがやっていたような音の感触を覚えることができる。

　同じミスチルでも最近より初期のミスチルが好き、という人には是非聴いて欲しい一曲。
