5.0 out of 5 stars どっしりと腰を落ち着かせた快作, 2005/7/5
ここ数作は、作品ごとに作風を変化させてきたミッシー。
テンテケビートを極めた「Miss E... So Addictive」、
古き良きHip-Hopを取り戻そうとした「Under Construction」、
再びシリアスにビートと向き合った「This Is Not A Test」。
いずれもオリジネイターとしての風格充分の作品でしたが、個人的に前作では
一通りのキャリアを積み上げた者の「達成感」と「迷い」が垣間見えた気もしました。

２年のインターバルを経てリリースされる今作。
彼女はその間にご存知の通りCiaraの大ヒットがあり、再び名実共に存在感を示す事に成功しました。
そのおかげで今作では、余計なプレッシャーから解放されたためか、その好調ぶりを存分にアピールしてくれています。

現在注目度No.1のMike Jonesを迎えた1は、そんな話題性など関係ないかのように
上モノを極力抑えた渋いトラック。
一方2はラテン風味のパーカッションを使った、タイトル通りのアゲアゲ・チューン。
先行シングル4ではCiaraをしっかりフィーチャーし、久々の開放的なナンバーを疲労し、
ラストの16では、話題のM.I.A.とレゲエMC・DJのVybez Cartelと共に、攻撃的なビートの上でマイク・リレーを展開しています。
個人的な白眉は6です。メロウなトラックの上で、結構エロい歌詞を唄っています（笑）

ミッシー史上、最もヴァラエティに溢れた内容となっているのではないでしょうか。
「女帝」の面目躍如と言えるアルバムだと思います。

この人はなぜ毎回こんなに刺激的な作品を作れるのでしょうか。
奇をてらって一発屋で終わる人は数知れずですが、
パッと聴くと変なのにちゃんと聴くとしっかり
完成度の高さを備えているミッシーはやはり別格ですね。
いつの間にかティンバランドを飲み込んじゃってる感があります。

個人的に今回の白眉は９曲目”Remember When”ですね。
ミッシーらしからぬ王道バラード！
とは言え細部を聴くと十分刺激的なギミックもありますけどね。
こういう曲も難なくつくりアルバムに
広がりを持たせるミッシーには改めて才能を感じます。

ミッシーファンやヒップホップ好きだけでなく、
先鋭的なＲ＆Ｂが好みな人には是非聴いてほしい！
ベイビーフェイスとか好きな人には
絶対薦めませんが…

TIMBALANDとのタッグで90年代半ばから斬新な音でシーンを驚かせてきたミッシー。ここのところリリースのペースも早く、合間を縫って審査員を務めたアメリカンアイドルの優勝者FANTASIAに曲を提供、レコーディングをしなおしたMONICAを全米1位にしたり、マドンナとの異色コラボレーションをしたり。最近ではCIARAとのデュエット曲である1、2STEPが全米2位の大ヒットとなり、未だにTOP40に踏みとどまる超ロングセラーを記録しているが、とうとうミッシー本人のソロアルバムも到着。

前作から1年半というブランクでのリリースとなるのだが、何と言ってもスヌープドッグやマライア・キャリーの新作で大復活を遂げているNEPTUNESと初のコラボーレートをすることが最大の話題であり、ソロアルバムではTIMBALANDかレーベルメイトとしかプロダクションにおいては関わらなかったので、異例と言える。先行シングルは去年大ヒットを記録した時の共演者であるCIARAとのLose Control だが、USHERやCIARAの大ヒットで一躍ブームを巻き起こしたクランクを意識したようなナンバーで、エレクトリックなアイデア満載な予感の漂うシングルだ。勿論盟友TIMBALANDとのコラボレートがあるのだが、ビックリ箱のような内容に毎度のことながら度肝を抜かされてしまう。
