3rd『ROUNDS』から2年振りのフルアルバム。

4作目の今作は、1stのジャズ、2nd/3rdのエレクトロの要素が
強かったのに比べて、リズムが断然に強い。

3rd収録の"She Moves She"のような、必殺なポップ要素は減ったが、
1曲目からして、アフロビートすら感じさせるリズムが鳴り響く。

街に出て踊りたくなるようなトラック、らしい。
大きな音で響かせよう。

　ポストロックバンドfridgeのメンバー、Kieran Hebdenのソロプロジェクト、four tetの通算4枚目のアルバム。
　変態レーベルdominoからのリリースです。

　ドラマーのSteve Reid（もしかしたらライブだけかもしれないですが）が参加したせいもあってか、再生ボタンを押してからもうビートの嵐です。
　毎回違う音を模索しているらしく今回はドラムンベースなエッセンスや今までどおりのエレクトロニカな香りなどがして、とても楽しい雰囲気です。

　ジャケットもスリーブもすごくデザインがよくて、カラフル（すぎw）なテキストや素敵な写真など、かなりたまんない感じです。
　ただしそれと比べると音のほうが見た目の派手さにちょっと負けてるかなぁと思ってしまいました。
　もちろん遊び心満載な音ですが。

　お気にはm-1,4,8,9,10。

ポスト・ロック・バンド、
FRIDGのメンバーであるキエラン・ヘブデンによる
一人ユニット、フォー・テット。

2nd『Pause』で
フォークトロニカを代表する
アーティストとしての評価を得、
さらにその世界観を広げた
傑作3rd『Rounds』から約2年ぶりの4thでは
それらのイメージを自らうち破る
力強さと繊細さの両面を融合した
ポジティブでダイナミックな作品を
作り上げた。

リード・トラックから、いきなり
タイトなブレイクビーツ＆ドラム・ビーツを
繰り出し、その情熱的な展開で度肝を抜く。

フジ・ロック出演時の
サウンド・チェック・ノイズを使用したり
さまざまなSEやノイズを
コラージュ的に挟みこみつつ
オーガニックでドリーミーなトラックと
コントラストをみせながら
ヒップホップやテクノの影響を受けた
強靱なビート感覚を披露する。

過去にやったことを繰り返さず、という
キエランの強い意志が
バンド・サウンドにまで昇華した
そのビートに表れている。

ベル音や小刻みなエレクトロ・エレメンツと
せめぎ合うように
エレクトロ・ビートをたたき込み、
アブストラクトなドラムを
機関銃のように打つ。

しかし、
ただのビート・アルバムにならないのは
やはり、フォー・テット。

ガムランを思わせる電子音を
空間に広げてみせた
アンビエントなトラックで
締めくくる。

さすが、天才的な
サウンド・メーカー。
