【プロフィール】
元ザ・バーズのデヴィッド・クロスビー、元ホリーズのグラハム・ナッシュ、元バッファロー・スプリングフィールドのスティーヴン・スティルスにより1968年結成。69年1stアルバム『クロスビー、スティルス＆ナッシュ』を発表。見事なヴォーカル・ハーモニー、アコースティック・ギターと変則チューニングを多用したサウンドで新風を巻き起こした。また発表の10週間後に世紀のロック・イベント、ウッドストックに出演。またたく間にヒッピー・カルチャーを象徴する人気グループに。70年に発表した『デジャ・ヴ』からは、「ウッドストック」のステージにも参加したニール・ヤングが正式加入し、グループ名もクロスビー、スティルス、ナッシュ＆ヤングとなるが、長続きせず71年に解散。その後74年の再結成ツアー、77年の新作発表など時折3人での再編がなされ、活動休止（解散）、再開を繰り返し、現在もミュージック・シーンで活躍している。

ＣＳ＆ＮにＹが加わったウエストコーストミュージックの金字塔。ここでは楽曲もほぼ均等に担当しているがやってることは４人バラバラ。恐らくレコーディングも別々にやっていたんだろうと思います。にもかかわらず、この統一感、緊張感は時代が生んだ奇跡と言えるでしょう。４人ともそれぞれのキャリアの絶頂期にあり素晴しい楽曲を披露しています。ジャケットも当時のＬＰだと写真が上から貼り付けてあり随分感動したのを覚えています。時代とメンバー才能が合致した傑作です。

本商品のクレジットがCS&NとあるがCSN&Yの間違いですね、ちゃんと「ヘルプレス」などで独特のニール・ヤング節が聴けます。

７０年代初期、アメリカで最高の支持と賞賛を集めた伝説の名作。４人の天才による究極のハーモニー美。こわれそうな急速感と緊張感を保ったパワーバランス。それでいて各人はそれぞれのユニークな世界をこのCSN&Y作品の中で自由に展開しているところが、急速発展期のダイナミズムなのでしょう。そのときまさに、才能が大輪の開花を遂げつつあった４人が、めぐりあってしまったのでしょう。

歴史的名曲の「ウッドストック」。究極のコーラスが聴ける「キャリー・オン」。映画「小さな恋のメロデイ」挿入歌でシングルヒットなったグラハム・ナッシュ作品のやさしく美しいポップナンバー「ティーチ・ユア・チルドレン」、そしてタイトル・チューンは永遠の問題作、かもしれません。

なお初期の（メイジャーになる前の）日本のグループGAROはCS&N, CSN&Yに多大な影響を受けていました。

すべての７０ｓファン、４人のうちひとりにでも関心をもったかたに、聴いておいて頂きたい、CSN&Yの代表作です。

　前作「Crosby, Stills＆ Nash」の３人に、ニール・ヤングを加えた70年の作品。一部の曲で、グレイトフルデッドのジェリー・ガルシア、ラビン・スプーンフルのジョン・セバスチャンが参加している。
　４人各々の圧倒的なセンスと、グループとしての絶妙なバランスが、曲にいきいきとした存在感を形作らせている。１枚のアルバムとして、細部まで抜かりなく、奥深い。曲目はカントリー、ロックから、サイケ、果ては80'S、90'sポップスにまで通じるものまであり、多彩。
　それまでのロックの合流点であり、かつ、その後のロックの源流と言える作品ではないでしょうか。
