バジー・フェイトンとニール・ラーセンによる双頭バンドの'70年代に出した2枚のアルバムのカップリング。オリジナルの通りに並べただけの芸のない内容ですが、この2枚が手に入りやすくなったというだけで十分評価できます。1~8が1枚目、9~16が2枚目。1枚目は全8曲中6曲がボーカル入り。2枚目はボーカルとインストが半々。ニール・ラーセン主導の曲がインスト。バジー・フェイトンの曲は本人のボーカル入りです。どんな経緯でカップリング再発になったかは知りませんが、この2枚のアルバムは人類の遺産と言っても過言ではない内容ですので、ぜひ、これを機会に再評価されることを望みます。

同バンドの２作が１枚で聴けるなんて凄い！レコードは擦り切れる位聴いて、ＣＤ再発盤が出た時にはすぐ買いに走った記憶があります。ニール・ラーセンの『ジャングル・フィーバー』と『ハイギア』の成功が彼らの'７０年台初頭の商業的には失敗した『フル・ムーン』（２枚目のタイトルにもなってます。本作品群の１０年も前のものですが、コンセプトは変わっていない！）の実態的な再結成に繋がったのはまちがいないと感じています。
ご両人に加え、アレサ・フランクリンやドニー・ハザウェイのライブ盤でも素晴らしいベースを聴かせてくれていたウィリー・ウィークスと西海岸系のセッションドラマーであるアート・ロドリゲス（このバンド以外では実はあまりしっくりきた作品には巡り合ってません、ここでの太鼓が一番いいのでは？）の最高のリズム隊がしっかり支えてくれていて安心して聴ける作品です。インストあり、歌ものあり、ＢＧＭにしてしまわれがちなのですが、いやはやよく聴いてみてほしい、楽器をやる方なら凄さは分かるはず！
'８０年代初頭、しかも頑固な二人が作り出す世界なので、古いといってしまえばそれまでかもしれませんが、普遍性はあり！１枚目の発売後来日公演もあって、音楽雑誌等では相当その記事が取り上げられていた記憶があります。未だに引っ張り出して聴いてみる、２０年来お付き合いいただいている作品です。デジタル、打ち込み、ＭＩＤＩなんて無縁の世界、浸れます！！この作品の企画、ただただ脱帽です。２作品をバラバラに買った私に言わせればお買い得極まりない、といったところです！

既に'70s初期にFull Moon名義での活動/作品リリースを行っていたニール・ラーセン(vo、key)とバジー・フェイトン(vo、g)が80sになってラーセン=フェイトン・バンドとしてリスタートした際の作品('80年作)と次作品('82年作)を２in１にカップリングしたお徳盤。
＃収録曲は、順に[1]-[8]が"LARSEN/FEITEN BAND"、
＃[10]-[16]が"FULL MOON"という内容
人気プロデューサー、トミー・リピューマが手がけたこのニ作品はまさに(今聴き返すと)時代感に溢れる楽曲が並びます。
あくまで'80sに向けてソフィスティケイトされたような風合いは、フュージョンのしなやかさとAORのメロディアスさが色濃く出ていると思います。ホーンの響きなど、まさに'80s初期って感じです。
あまり強烈に弾き込まないB.フェイトンのgプレーは、すこしブルージーに響きながらも楽曲にマッチしており、N.ラーセンのkeyも如何にもクールに心地良く響きます。B.フェイトン、N.ラーセン共にvoクレジットされており、その歌声もAOR的でなかなか惹かれます(^^;
