先日、やっとフラプラのライブをブルーノートで観ることができた。
SHIHOのボーカルと横田氏のギターのポテンシャルの高さは期待を裏切らないモノだった。横田氏の人柄の良さがアットホームな雰囲気を醸し出していて、超絶プレイとの対比がとても面白い。これで最後になるであろうブルーノート福岡でのライブは満足できるものだった。

このアルバムの一曲目は大好きなシャーデーのカバー曲。のっけからパーカッシブなギターサウンドに完全にノックアウトされた。めっちゃカッコイイ！
ライブで一曲目に演奏されたスティービー・ワンダーのカバー曲も素晴らしいアレンジだし、とにかくフラプラの選曲はいつもながら抜群のセンスで、こんなアコギデュオが自分にもできたらどんなに幸せだろうと思う。

ふたりの類い希な歌唱力、演奏力、アレンジと選曲のセンスが融合して、アコギデュオの最高峰に君臨するフラプラは、私にとって永遠にたどり着けない目標であり憧れだ。

前作とは打って変わって、ﾊﾞｯｸｷはﾞﾀｰだけ。二人が本当に好きな曲を、じっくり選んで（本当に素晴しい選曲です！）、大切に丁寧に作りこんだという印象の作品。ｷﾞﾀｰも派手な超絶技巧はあえて抑えに抑えながら、楽曲の美しさを際立たせるバッキンｸﾞ。それでも随所にさりげなく「巧の技」が光っています。ボーカルは、本当に微妙なニュアンスを細やかに歌い上げていて、以前のｽﾋﾟｰﾄﾞ感に加え随分繊細さに磨きがかかったように思います。前作のバンド編成も、ソリッドな感じでかっこ良かったけど、そのままその路線で進まずに、あえて原点に戻ってみせたこのユニットは、これから、どのように発展するのか改めて楽しみです。じっくりとお酒でも飲みながら聞いてみて下さい。選曲だけでも、聞く価値ありだと思いますよ。

え!! これって日本人？
今日ＣＤショップでたまたま見つけた１枚
ＣＤ紹介には、「ヴォーカルとギターという最小限のユニットによるスタンダード・ナンバー」とある。
早速視聴してみた・・・なんだぁぁ これはぁぁ すぐに裏切られた。
実は聴くまでは、期待してなかったのである。
実に唄がうまいじゃないか、それにギターとケンカしてない。
聴いてみる前は、どうせギターが強引にせり出してボーカルがチカラ負けしてるんだろな　くらいにしか思っていなかったのである。
こんなに唄のうまい日本人がいたなんて、なんで今日まで知らなかったんだろう？　フライド・プライドを知ったのも今日がはじめてだ。
ヴォーカルを引き立てるマーカスミラーばりのギターもすばらしい、テクニックを誇示しすぎず、上手にヴォーカルを引き立てている。
時に強く、時に優しく、時に激しく・・・バランスがすごくいい。
和製サリナ・ジョーンズを思わせる声量感のあるハスキーボイスも実にいい。なにより力みすぎていないのが経験の豊富さを証明している。
いったい何歳の女性なのか？　将来が末恐ろしい。
日本のJAZZも希望が見えてきたということか？
見れば既に数枚のアルバムを発売してるではないか。
今日から楽しみが増えた、得した気分。
