　一時期流行のようにもてはやされた「フォークトロニカ」ですが、この音盤を聴くと、何かMinotaur ShockことDavid Edwardsは何十年も前から、そして何十年後も、このサウンドを奏で続けているんじゃないかって感じがします。進歩性はないかもしれません。でも、DavidはDavidなりに越えるべき壁、問題があって、それを少しずつ、自分なりのペースで乗り越えようとしていると感じます。小さな旅程ですが、魅力的な道でもあります。このような状態になったということは、それだけ普遍性のある音楽になったということでもあります。

　この音盤を聴けば、素晴らしい癒しの時間が約束されるでしょう。ジャケット・アートワークもそれにそっと花を添えます。iPodのメモリの片隅に、いつまでも残しておきたくなる一枚です。

Folktronica アンドsome Prefab Sprout-era 80s pop。David Edwardsはたまたま活動時期がここ最近だからFolktronicaという事になっているけど、こういうアプローチは確かにFolktronica的な世界とは違うふくらみを感じる。

ミニマルなホーンフレーズが80s幾何学的ホーンを連想させるMuesli、ぎこちないlo-fiなブレイクビーツとMPC的なサンプルの刻み方のDry Dock Nowはどことなく淡々とした調性を持たないシンセのテーマが印象的、意外と四分打ちのVigo Bayがキレイに収まっている。バッキングはやっぱり80s幾何学的な雰囲気のホーン(風のサウンド)でなぜか叙情的なコード、とても不思議なエンディングのelectronicaへの僅かなアイロニイを含むパーツ入替、これがとてもカッコいい。The Broadsは(当然、無関係だろうけど)Boards of canadaを連想させるパッド系の音色と淡々としたドラム。とても上品な作りの中で少々辛口なキャラクターを発揮させるDavid Edwardsの力量がスゴい。
