メイスンの70年代のアルバムはホントに名作揃いですが、これがまた名盤。メイソンならではのアメリカンなスワンプ感とグレアム・ナッシュやジョージ・ハリスンといった同郷勢の参加によって頂点に達した傑作です。特にナッシュは全面参加といってよく、ほとんどの曲でコーラスを付けているのですが、これがCSNYよりもホリーズ時代の彼を彷彿とさせるコーラス・ワークで、ホリーズ・ファンなどにも是非聴いて欲しいものです。さらに「If You Got Love」ではジョージ・ハリスンそっくりなスライド・ギターが聞こえると思ったら、実際にジョージ本人が弾いてました（笑）。そして「アローン・トゥゲザー」以降で最初の頂点に達した感のある、メイソン自身のソングライティングの冴えが素晴らしい。見事に名曲揃いです。彼のライブの定番となる「Every Woman」だけでなく「Misty Morning Stranger」や感動をさそう「Lonely One」とか、ホントにいい曲ばかりなんだなー。国内盤が廃盤なんて、気にしない。リマスターされてるし、これで是非聴いてください。そうそう、カール・レイドルも参加してますよ。

73年リリースの知る人ぞ知る名盤。Traffic時代からソングライティングには定評のある人ですが、絶好調の時期がこの頃ではないでしょうか。曲の魅力に加えて個人的には彼のギターの音が大好きでよく聞きました。
滑らかかつ伸びのあるトーンで艶やかに、甘く時に切ないソロをたっぷり聞かせてくれます（本作では"Baby, please"、"Headkeeper"、"It's like..."がまさにそれ）。また、生ギター使いの上手さも特徴。"Maybe"の弾き語りだけでなく、サウンド構成にセンス良く溶け込ませるのも職人芸。ツボを押さえた音使いと絶妙のトーンのソロ、こういうギターを聞かせてくれる人って案外少ないですから。ほかにCSN＆YのG. Nashのバック・ヴォーカル、時にカリブっぽい味付けのリズムもいい感じで決まっています。
（注）本作は翌年にリリースされたこれまた名作“Dave Mason”と2 in 1の形でも購入可能（ジャケットもそのまま内ジャケにあります）ですから、そちらがぐっとお得ですので星は中身納得ながら３つとしています。

「Baby …Please」や「忘れえぬ人」では、デイブメイソン節って感じで、哀愁を感じさせる独特のギターフレーズを聴かせてくれる。「Maybe」では、アコースティックで、しっとり男の艶っぽいヴォーカルを聴かせてくれる。60年〜70年のころブリティッシュロック全盛で、たくさんのギタリストが出てきたが、このひともよかった。
