仕様の説明が明確ではありませんが、通常CDとDVD-Audioの二枚組です。彼にとって初めての5.1ch作品となりました。この作品はツアー中の出来事を様々な側面から描写したものですが、5.1chの音場設定もステージ、リハーサル、ホテルなど録音場所に合わせたものに構成されていて、録音時の様子がリアルに体験できます。中でもホテルでの録音は、メンバーがぐるりと回りを取り囲み、中央のリスナーのためだけに演奏をしている様な至福の時間を体験できます。音の良さは、楽器の分離も功を奏し、一層クリアで力強い印象を受けます。また、豊富に含まれるツアー中の写真も、曲に合わせた内容で嬉しいです。「Running On Empty」、かむしゃらに突っ走っていたんでしょうね。他の作品のDVD-Audio化も期待します。

3.0 out of 5 stars なんとＣＤ盤をＥＤＩＴするなんて！！, 2006/8/29
前知識がほとんどなく、ＤＶＤが付くので、伝説の「孤独なランナー」のプロモ・ビデオが付いているのかと思ったら、ただ単に音質の良いＤＶＤオーディオ（ちなみに私は再生機は持っていません）で、当時のスナップ・ショットが見れる程度でした。

普通のＤＶＤプレイヤーで再生しても、今まで聴き取れなかった（それとも消されていた？）ジャクソン・ブラウンらのつぶやく声（「孤独なランナー」演奏前に、最初の一章節をつぶやいているなんて知りませんでした！）など、確かに音質が良くなっているのだろうと、なんとなく感心していました。ボーナス・トラック２曲はありがたいのですが、「ステイ」で感動的に終った後に別の曲がすぐ続くのは、少々ありがた迷惑な感じもしました。

肝心のＣＤは聴いていなかったので、そちらはボーナス・トラックなしなので、さっそく再生すると、なんと、イントロなしでいきなり「孤独なランナー」が始まって驚きました。このアルバムの良いところは、最初は観客のザワメキがあり、メンバーのつまびく楽器の音が聞こえ、そして、カウントと共に、徐々に曲が始まっていくところが大変素晴しいところでした。

ところが、このＣＤ盤はそれらすべてをカットし、シングル・ヴァージョンのようにいきなり「孤独なランナー」が始まってしまうのです。それでは、このＣＤ盤は一体何のために付いているのか分からなくなってしまいます。音質が良くなっているような感じはしますが、多少の音質よりも、ファンはオリジナルを愛しているので、イントロをそっくり削ってしまった、ＥＤＩＴヴァージョンの「ベスト・オブ・孤独なランナー」を望んでいる訳ではないのです。

ＣＤはコピーされてしまうので、音質も良く、コピーもしにくいＤＶＤオーディオ（但し、普通のＤＶＤがコピーできるので、ＤＶＤオーディオもコピーできてしまうのだと思いますが）が将来は主流になるのかもしれませんが、この２枚組は、その移行期間に生まれた、なんとも中途半端なシロモノのように感じました。

素晴らしいアルバムです。音もかなり良くなっています。ただし、DVDオーディオを期待して購入したのですが、私のパイオニアのDVD-AUDIOが再生できるプレーヤーでDVD-AUDIO部分が再生できません。もちろんDVDはOKです。以前もニールヤングのグリーンデイルで同様の事が起こりました。どなたか原因が分かる方は教えて下さい。DVD-Aではリージョンはないはずなのですが・・・。
