収録曲は１曲のみ。それも60分56秒もあります。これが本作の１つの特色です。途中で曲がフェイドアウトして次の曲がフェイドインで始まる、なんてことはありません。それだけに、音の世界に安心して身を任せることができます。本作は「音の大河」というべき環境音楽です。少しずつ曲調が変わりますが普通に聴いてるとまずわかりません。一聴して単調なようで実は相当に緻密に織り上げられた音のテクスチャーはまさに美そのものです。美しいピアノ、柔らかいシンセ、たまに聞こえる鳥の囀り、全ての音が美空間つくりに貢献しています。本作を「木曜日の午後」に聴く事は間違いなく最高の気分にしてくれます。イーノの環境音楽作品の中でも美しさに関してはベスト3に入る本作は環境音楽初心者にお勧めです。

ブライアン・イーノのアンビエントシリーズは
私にはアンビエントでもなければ、ＢＧＭにもなりません。
何かをしながら流していても、その音の美しさに手が止まり
聴き入ってしまうからです。
「オン・ランド」なんか期待外れで興味津々、気になりすぎです。

しかし、これはいい。他の作品に比べて気になる度合いが違います。
耳触りのいい音が空気のように浮遊します。

私はこれを読書しながら流していますが
聞こえているのに忘れてしまう、美しいのに聞こえていない
といった感じで、どんどんページが進みます。
これこそ私にとって、アンビエントです。

かなり眠いとは、心地良いということ。
延々と１曲60分間途切れずピアノのゆっくりとした曲が流れる。
イーノのこれまでのアルバムに近いものというとHarold Buddとの
「The Pearl」や「ザ・プラトウ・オブ・ミラー」に近い。
しかし、これらのアルバムは１曲ごとにイメージが違うが
このアルバムは少しずつ変化しながら、１曲にまとめられている。
そういう意味で大きな変化がないので大変心地よく眠れるアルバム。
