何ら予備知識も無く、Sam Cookeの名曲をカバーしているというのでそれ目当てで聴いてみました。歌声は14を一聴して解かるとおり、めちゃ旨いです。現代風ソウルで歌いこなしてる。
個人的な欲を言うと、オリジナルのサムの歌い方の出だし「I was born 〜」があまりに強烈で胸を突くような歌い方なので、彼女にももう少し感情むき出しで歌って欲しかった。

それ以外でも、2と10の出来が凄い。
2はPete & CLの2nd、10はD'AngeloのVoodooに近いものがある。
とにかく黒い。
黒い音好きな人はぜひぜひ聴いてみて

もう聴いた瞬間に耳を傾けてしまう声ですね。
末恐ろしい十代です。
楽曲の方向性も彼女の声を生かすもので、
他の若い歌手のCDでこの音楽は聴けないでしょう。
ただ、一部音数が多すぎてうるさく聴こえる楽曲もありました。
余計な音が無くなればもっと良い作品になったかと思います。

とは言えR&B好きなら聴かなきゃいけない名盤です。
とりあえず"MUSIC"は必聴！

あのPete Rock&Cl Smoothを従えたGwen Mcraeの♪Funky Sensation"大ネタ使い♪Good Time が既に巷の本物志向の耳にしかと焼きついて離れない離れさせない今年一番の注目株Leela James 、
待望の デビューアルバム「A Change Is Gonna Come」が到着！！
制作陣には James Poyser（♪My Joy） Raphael Saadiq（♪Soul Food、♪Rain）といった ネオソウルの重鎮から 旬な男Kanye West（♪It's Alright、♪Didn't I）、 Wyclef Jean（♪Ghetto）が名を連ね ドス黒いソウルを展開。
新人とは思えぬ 味わい深い歌声で聴かせてくれる。
また タイトルにも付けた 伝説Sam Cooke（♪Change Gonna Come）に No Doubtの カヴァー（♪.Don't Speak）までも 見事自分の持ち曲のように渋いく歌いこなしている。
こんなに音が溢れている中に今一番、熱い視線が注がれているのは彼女が本物という証。
Jill　Scott、Angie Stone,Macy Grayに続くネオソウルサウンドを背負う重要アーティストです。
