このアルバムのリリースに先立つ数週間、ロバート・プラントはサウス・バイ・サウスウェスト音楽祭で思いもよらない人気を博し、彼の4分の1の年齢のロッカーたちから成る自らのバンド、ザ・ストレンジ・センセーションとともに激しいセッションをした後、専用機で何の説明もなく帰ってしまった。彼の古いロック仲間たちの多くとは違って、プラントはレッド・ツェッペリンの偉大なメンバーという立場を離れてからほとんど落ちつくことがないという事実を表している話だ。8枚のソロアルバムの中で、ドゥーワップ、シンセポップ、それにドラムンベースまで実験してきた。だが56歳になって、この黄金の神は調子を上げてきている。「Tin Pan Valley」（邦題「ティン・パン・ヴァリー」）で、彼は「仲間はキャバレーで遊んでいる。反乱の雄たけびをあげる者もいる。俺はもっと高いところへ行く。地獄から抜け出さなければ」と歌っている。『Mighty Rearranger』（邦題『マイティ・リアレンジャー』）はこの世のものとは思えない彼の声質を最高に引き出していて、豊かなミドル・イーストのテクスチャーと、ソフトなブルースのアクセントと、ゴージャスなサイケデリックがあふれている。2002年のエキゾチックで官能的な『ドリームランド』（原題『Dreamland』）の精神を引き継いでいるが、サウンドはさらに洗練されている。静かな曲はさらに静かに、騒々しい曲はプラントがかつて12匹もの死んだクズリにとりつかれていたことを思い出させる。「Shine It All Around」（邦題「シャイン・イット・オール・アラウンド」）で、「人生は今、明るく、力強く、黄金に輝いている」と歌っているのは決して嘘ではない。（Aidin Vaziri, Amazon.com）

久しぶりに登場したロバート・プラントのザ・ストレンジ・センセーション名義のアルバムです。正直言ってあまり期待しないで聞いたのですが、これがまたいいのです。いままでのソロ・アルバムの中でもベストの作品だと思います。レッド・ツェッペリン色がかなり前面に出ておりますが、ツェッペリン、ハニー・ドリッパーズ、ペイジ・プラント時代の音楽感がみごとに反映されているように思います。ドラムがまたボンゾを彷彿するものであり、現在もツェッペリンが存続していたらこんな風になっていたのではないかと思われます。ロバート・プラントの声も年を感じさせず、よく伸びていますね。ジミー・ペイジの話題があまりない現在、今後のロバート・プラントの活動に期待したいと思います。ジェフ・ベックも久々に来日するし、ストーンズもワールド・ツアーを行う様だし、クイーンもポール・ロジャースを迎えてがんばっているようですね。このところ６０年７０年代ロックが勢いづいていますね。オジさんロッカーにはたまりませんぞ。いっそ、ペイジ、プラント、Ｊ．Ｐ．ジョーンズでツェッペリンを復活させて来日して欲しいと思います。その日を待ってこのアルバムを今日も聞いてしまおう。

よく偉大なバンドのメンバーが独立してソロになるケースのほとんどが失敗に終わる気がする中、ロバートはのびのびマイペースに独自の音楽を楽しんでいるように見られる。今回のアルバムが商業的に成功するかと聞かれれば難しいと答えます。しかし、内容がすばらしい。ゼッペリンの音楽が好きな方なら絶対に気に入るアルバムだと思います。誰かが今回のアルバムはゼッペリン色が強いと言われますが私はこれはあきらかにロバート独自の個性ある音楽だと思います。それにしてもロバートをサポートするバックバンドが非常にいいです。私は別にジミ-のギターだけがロバートを引き立たせるとは思いません。
これは久し振りに聞く傑作です！

プラントの久々のアルバムという事で、ツェッペリンの熱狂的なファンにとっては、聞かないうちから、星５つをつけたくなります。
しかし、プラント自身にとって、ツェッペリンは、常に巨大な影として、解散後、ツェッペリンと戦い続ける連続だったのかなと、最近思います。
その彼が、未だに、創作活動を続け、元気でやっている。素晴らしいなと思っています。
さて、本作、プラントの音楽活動の原点回帰かなと考えています。つまり、彼が、ロックに初めて触れた時の影響が、凝縮されたアルバムに仕上がっているのではないかと考え、いつになく期待膨らんででいます。
やはり、星５つあげてしまうな!
