テレビに接続するだけで往年のメガドライブソフトを遊ぶことができるメガドライブプレイＴＶシリーズの第２弾。
この商品では『ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ２』『エコー・ザ・ドルフィン』『ゲイングランド』『ジ・ウーズ』『コラムス』『アレックスキッド天空魔城』の６本を遊ぶことができる。
どのへんの層をターゲットにしたのかわからないラインナップだが、逆にどんな人にも対応しているとも言えるかもしれない。
世界的に有名な名作アクション『ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ２』は、ソニックのキャラは知っているが当時メガドライブをもっていなかったのでプレイ経験がない人などはこの機会にプレイしてみるといいかも。
『コラムス』は飽きのこないパズルゲームで、当時ゲームセンターで女性がプレイしているのも良く見かけた作品。当時プレイしたひとはもちろん、あまりゲームをしない層にもお勧めできるタイトル。
『ジ・ウーズ』はメガドライブ末期のタイトルで、国内販売本数が少なく、数万円のプレミアもついていた作品。うわさを聞いたことがあるひとならば、「これが２万円で売買されていたのか」と感慨深いだろう。
『エコー・ザ・ドルフィン』『ゲイングランド』は、どちらもセガらしさが出ている良作。エコーの見た目のかわいらしさは、これも女性ユーザーに受けるかも。
『アレックスキッド』は…まぁ、発売直後にメガドラを購入したユーザーの衝撃を追体験してください。

　なんだかコントローラーが妙にデカい気がします。これにデータチップと電池が入るボックスと、むやみに長いコントローラーがついてきます。　
　むむぅ。思ったより場所をとりますね。特に収納するときが。　
　さてさて。
　内容はかなり通好みなタイトルです。ソニック２やコラムスはともかくとして、ジ・ウーズなんてお宝ゲームですよ。はい。
　まあ、僕はゲイングランドがしたかったので購入したのですが……(←なんじゃそら)。
　そういえばこのゲームもモノラルなんですね。同系統のナムコのアレもモノラルで……ステレオスピーカーでは片方しか音が出ません。
　その辺がちょっと残念です。というわけで、星は４点です。

2004年9月に発売され好評を得たメガドライブプレイTVシリーズの第2弾が4月2日に緊急発売！
世界的なメガヒットを記録したソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ2を始め、日本市場でもコアなファンに人気のある、ゲイングランド、アレックスキッド天空魔城など、幅広いニーズに応えたコンピレーション商品となっている。
ビデオ端子テレビに繋ぐだけの簡単設計、本体は単3アルカリ電池4本使用で約10時間稼動するので、ちょっとした時間にちょっとしたスペースで懐かしいあの名作を楽しむ事ができる。
収録タイトルは、「ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ2」「エコー・ザ・ドルフィン」「ゲイングランド」「ジ・ウーズ」「コラムス」「アレックスキッド天空魔城」の６本。
パッケージデザインも一新し、イメージカラーとしては燃えるようなレッドを採用。同時発売のメガドライブプレイTV 3（ストリートファイターII'Special champion edition、大魔界村を収録）のイメージカラーには青を採用し、赤箱・青箱の色の対比が目に鮮やかだ。
