キャロル・リード監督の白黒映画は「邪魔者は殺せ」でもそうですが、光と影のコントラストが重要なテーマです。このワン・コイン・シリーズは画像が悪いものも有るのですが、この作品に限っては大丈夫です。但し、エンドタイトルがカットされているのには驚きました。何故？映画自体を見るなら、このDVDで十分ですが、映画史に残る名作ですが、原作＆脚色のグレアム・グリーンについてや当時のウィーンの置かれた状況などを解説してくれる特典映像のメイキングが無いのが残念です。

商品に対する評価ではありませんが…。
この500円シリーズは、本のコーナーにも同じ商品があります。時期のよってはそちらのほうが安く買えることがありますので、本のコーナーで検索されることをおすすめします。

　ジョセフ・コットン, オーソン・ウェルズの迫真の演技。他の登場人物も猫一匹に至るまで印象に残る場面があって、しかも筋がぴんと通っている。
　チターの音楽も効果的。
　ウィーンの雰囲気と合わせて、何度も観たくなる映画でなるほど、人様が名作とこぞっていうだけのことはあると納得です。
　どのシーンも印象に残りますが、特に印象に残るのは、終盤近くかな、あの遊園地のシーン。
　後の００７にもオマージュしたシーンが出てきますが、オーソン・ウェルズの微妙な表情とそれを観て迷う主人公の表情の対比が面白いです。悪い奴なんですけど、どこかにくめないんですね。オーソン・ウエルズの役が。色気があるというか。
　あと、ラストの締め方も美しい。これが映画という締め方で唖然としました。
　この映画は何回も見て、宝物になりました。
