ブッチ・ヴィグ率いるスーパー・ポップ・グループ、Garbageが3年半ぶりのアルバム『ブリード・ライク・ミー』をリリース。プロデューサーにダストブラザーズのジョン・キングを起用、華麗かつ完璧なサウンドと紅一点シャーリー・マンソン（vo）の圧倒的な存在感は健在。

   困難な4年間だった。バンドは一時的に解散状態となり、シンガーのシャーリー・マンソンは夫と離婚し、新しいテクノロジーのお陰で、しゃれたエレクトロ・ロックの音を鳴らしたバンドの初期3枚のアルバムは時代遅れに聞こえるようになってしまったが、ガービッジは『Bleed Like Me』で不健全に再浮上した。マンソンは今でも宙を蹴りあげ、ハイヒールできらめきを踏みつける強気な態度で、デビー・ハリーやクリッシー・ハインドのようにエッジーなグラム・ロックのアンセム、「Run Baby Run」や「Metal Heart」を歌っている。ニルヴァーナの「Nevermind」で有名なブッチ・ヴィグを含め、バックには文学的なプロデューサー3人がついているが、薄っぺらなマシンのようにリズムを刻んでいる。フー・ファイターズのフロントマン、デイヴ・グロールが威圧的な「Bad Boyfriend」でドラムを叩いているが、『Walk on the Wild Side』のようでもあり、マンソンのセラピーのようでもある独白的なアルバム・タイトル曲の「Bleed Like Me」が、ガービッジの傷のない究極のスタジオ・バンドとしてのイメージを打ち砕いている。“あんたは私の傷を見るべきよ”とコーラスが続く。そして、マンソンは喜んで傷を暴露したがっているようである。（Aidin Vaziri, Amazon.com）

この作品はこれまでのアルバムの中では、
１番ストレートにロックしている作品だと思う。
全作がポップでかわいらしかったのに比べ、
今回はギターの音がフューチャーされて、
コーラスも少なめでシンプルな印象。

でもそこに、やっぱりいつもどおりの、
ちょっとひねくれた感じのリフとシャーリーの声が乗れば、
やっぱりGarbageにしかできない、独特の世界なのです。
４人のこれからにさらに期待。

~Garbageというバンドには、アルバム収録曲に捨て曲が無いというイメージがある。
そしてそれは、今作でも変わらなかった。
どの曲にもかっこいい部分があり、暇な曲は一曲も無い。
収録曲の半分くらいはシングルカットできるんじゃないかな？と思う程。
全体的なイメージとしては、1stに近いと思う。
前作や前々作に見られた打ち込み要素は影を潜め、バンド~~サウンド全開。
アレンジもこっているので、洋楽初心者の人もそうでない人も楽しめるはず。

ただ、収録曲数がちょっと少なく、物足りない感じがしたので星４つとさせていただきます。~

このアルバムは原点に戻って作ったと聞いていたが、正直どうでもいい。待ちに待ったgarbageのニューアルバムなのだから。
２ｎｄアルバム「VERSION 2.0」と似ているが、こっちの方がポップな感じ。全体的に激しいサウンドの中に軽さを入れてる。
毎回思うことだが、やっぱり捨て曲と言われるものが無い。「あぁ、丁寧に作り上げたんだ」と思わされる。そして、ＶＯ：シャーリーの声を活かせるのはやっぱりgarbageしかないと再認識

国内版は一曲ボーナストラックを収録してるが、輸入版に比べてかなり値が張るため財布と相談してください。ちなみに１２曲目のボーナストラック「samething to do」はラモーンズのカヴァー曲。面白いよ。

でもやっぱり、一番はversion 2.0が好き。どのアルバムも好きだけどね。
