グッド・バイについてのメンバーさんから。

ある人の紹介で挨拶を交わした彼女は明るくて人当たりの良い女性。

　当時、毎日持ち歩いていた自主制作の音源を「ちゃんと聴くね」と受け取ってくれました。

　ランクヘッドというバンドにとって人との出会いとその価値をようやくリアルに感じることが出来はじめた時期に、あの日あの場所で彼女と出会えたのはある意味奇跡で、でもバンドと彼女がしばらくの間、同じレールの上を歩くことになったのは決して偶然じゃなかったと今は思う。

　２００３年の１０月１５日にリリースした『千川通りは夕風だった』というシングル。
　たくさんの人の協力で発売することが出来た作品だったけど、大げさでなく彼女がいなければ生まれることはなかった作品かもしれない。

あれから少し時間が流れて今日セカンドアルバム『月と手のひら』が発売になります。
　２曲目の『グッド・バイ』という曲は去年の７月に亡くなった彼女のうた。
　メンバーみんなで大事につくりました。廃盤になっていた『千川通り~』を再発売するのは賑やかなことが大好きだった彼女と一緒に一騒ぎできたらいいなと考えたから。
　今回初めてこのシングルを聴いてくれる人はもちろん、以前から持っていてくれていた人もちょっと引っ張り出して聴いてみてくれる。同時発売がそのきっかけになれば
　僕らは本当に嬉しい。

　この文章を読んでくれたあなたと、今回の『千川通りは夕風だった』再発売を実現に結び付けてくれたbounce records、Victor、直球、関係してくれた全ての方に感謝を込めて。

・・・載せて良いものがわからなかったんですけど、多くの人に知ってもらいたくて。アルバム全体としては、文句なしです。星５つ。

初めて聴いた時、なんて切実な曲を歌う人たちだろうと思い、正直これ以上聴きたくないと思うほど、胸が苦しくなりました。今まで歌を聴いてここまで思ったことは無かったので、自分でもかなり驚きでした。
でも、なんとなく聴かなきゃという気持ちになって改めてよく聴いてみたら、とても良い曲だと気が付きました。
彼らの曲には人間の弱さや優しさがうまく表現されています。聴いてみると、リスナーのために量産される音楽との違いがはっきりわかると思います。これからのランクヘッドに期待したいです。

「地図」の頃よりも洗練されたアルバムになっている。
「月と手のひら」の「みんなきっと少しだけ　人より幸せになりたいだけ」という小高芳太郎の歌詞は戦争の真理についても鋭く柔らかく突いている。ランクヘッドの魅力は歌詞や楽曲からにじみ出る作り手たちの誠実さであると思う。彼らが格好つけずに歌うリアルな意味としての生きるということは、僕たちに下手な応援ソングよりも強さを与えてくれるような気がする。
