このアルバムは、通常レコードと、レコードの重さがずっしりと重いオーディオマニア用の良質盤（そんなものがあったんです）と、通常CDと、スパーオーディオCDの4種類を持っています。マニアではないし、収集僻もないですが、その理由は、ひたすらこの1曲目に収録されている、パコ・デ・ルシアとアル・ディメオラの演奏が、圧倒的だから。一旦聴きはじめたら、金縛り状態。スピーカーの前でぴくりとも動けない。単に「上手い」とか「熱い」とかいった形容を超えて、聴いているこっちが音そのもの、演奏そのものになり、鳴ってしまっているような錯覚に陥る。唖然、陶酔、興奮、愉悦。パコ・デ・ルシアは左チャンネル。アル・ディメオラは右チャンネル。ステレオ前は（ヘッドホンだと頭の中は）、コンサートホールそのもの。録音もいいです。観客もいいです。２人に素早く反応して、絶妙なところで叫び声が入る。11分25秒の演奏が一瞬で駆け抜ける。「熱情」です。彼等のルーツのフラメンコとかジプシーの血が、人間業と思えない超絶技巧が、早弾きが、生ギターの音が、響きが、曲の魂の中で、燃え尽きてしまえ！とばかりに燃えさかっています。

何と言っても、最初のアルディメオラとパコデルシアのギター対決、”地中海の舞踏”が凄い。パッションがあるし技もあるけど基本的に余裕でやっているところが唸らせます。このトリオが再結成した時のアルバムも聴いたし、ライブも行きました。でも、やっぱりこの金曜の夜にやったライブが最高ですね。"Short Tales of the Black Forest"では、途中ヘンリーマンシーニの”ピンクパンサー”が織り込まれて次はロックンロールのコード進行で手拍子で観客大喜びという感じ。これは、ジョンマクラフリンとアルディメオラですよ。現場に居たかったですね！
