88年作品。『鬱』発表後のワールドツアーの模様を収録した初の2枚組ライヴ！UK,USともチャート最高位11位。87年9月9日よりスタートした7年ぶりとなるツアーは88年8月まで全155公演、延べ動員数300万人、15カ国を回るそれまでのフロイドの歴史の中でも最大規模のものであった。DISC1はデイヴ・ギルモアのギターが唸る「クレイジー・ダイアモンド」でスタート。以降当時の最新アルバム『鬱』の楽曲を演奏。DISC2はベスト盤としても楽しめる内容となっており、「吹けよ風~」から『狂気』のナンバーまで。このツアーでは待望の日本公演も実現し、レーザー光線が飛び交い、神秘的な映像がスクリーンに映し出され、他大掛かりな仕掛けも満載、光と音の大スペクタクルショーが繰り広げられた。(ちなみにその時の来日スケジュールは1988年3月2日、3日：武道館/3月4日、5日、6日；代々木オリンピックプール/3月8日、9日：大阪城ホール/3月11日：名古屋レインボーホールでした）

＜『光』　紙ジャケのポイント＞
アートワークデザインは引き続きストーム・トーガソン（元ヒプノシス）。光と音の融合を目指すピンク・フロイドのライヴを見事に体現したデザイン。電球のスーツを着た男と鳥に囲まれた男の対比は絶妙。見開きの中や内袋もライヴのイメージを更に増殖させる素晴らしい絵柄となっています。

※今回の紙ジャケではその素晴らしいデザインの美しいUKオリジナルLPを復刻。見開きジャケット、内袋付。
※初の低価格化となります。
※LPレーベル面レプリカ付！帯は新規作成。

８８年にピンク・フロイドが来日したとき、私は武道館に足を運びました。このCDを聴くと、そのときの興奮が鮮やかに蘇ります。そう、このLiveはピンク・フロイドの８７−８８年のWorld TourのときのLiveなのです。アルバムとしては「鬱」が出た頃で、日本公演でもOn the turning awayのスケールの大きさに感動したことを記憶しています。嬉しいことに、本CDでもその曲を収録しています。昔の名曲としては、７０年代からのファンとしては「狂気」からのTime, Us and them, MoneyそしてWish you were hereが嬉しい限りです。狂気のLive録音としてはこの後に出たp・u・l・s・eの全曲演奏にはかなわないと言わざるを得ないでしょう。しかし、p・u・l・s・eには収録されていない、On the turning awayとOne of these daysのLiveが聴けるので、やはり私にとってこのCDは格別の１枚なのです。

ギルモア・フロイドの初ライブ盤。
この時からフロイドのツアーは締めにライブ・アルバムを出すようになった。
（ストーンズやポール・マッカートニーも同じパターンを踏むようになった。）
このアルバムが出た当時はまだLPレコードと同時発売だったため、
収録されている曲のボリュームがLPサイズであることが少し悲しい。
そろそろボーナス付きで出し直してほしいものである。
内容的にはやはり２枚目のフロイド・クラシックをつい聞き込んでしまう
のは仕方ないところか。
ただ、彼らのライブも豪華で素晴らしいものだったと聞いているが、
（来日公演行きたかったなあ）このCDもかなりのおまけが付いていて見ている
だけでかなり幸せな気分になれる。
それにしてもこの紙ジャケ、電球男と鳥男それぞれ何を表しているのだろう？
写真が鮮明になった分、どうも気になる。
