5.0 out of 5 stars 大胆でいながらかつ繊細な大作, 2005/7/19
10~13曲目までが組曲形式になっていたり、各曲間が短かったり
長尺ブルースのvoodoo chileと破壊的なvoodoo childがあったりと
アルバムとしてのコンセプトを最も重視したアルバムですが
ジミの作品中でもコア度が最も高い作品だと思います。
全体的には非常に感情の揺さぶりがきついです。

voodoo~2曲やall along the watch towerは屈指の名曲です。
しかし多くの曲は個々の曲としてというよりアルバムの流れで映える曲だと思います。

自分は最初聴いたときはあまりに濃厚すぎてついてゆけなかったのですが
何度か聞き繰り返すにつれ楽しめるようになりました。
全体的に緻密な作りこみが伺えながらもラフなセッションの雰囲気を感じさせる4曲目や13曲目があったりとバラエティ豊かです。
あまりメロディアスな曲が無いため人によってはとっつきにくいかもしれませんが、聞きにくいアルバムというわけでもないと思います。

数々のアーティストに絶大な影響をあたえた彼の音楽！ジミ・ヘンドリックス、まさに革命児！ロック、ブルースと云う枠を超えて彼の音楽は存在する。彼は云う「音楽は一時も止まらずに絶えず動いて変化して行く」と・・・。彼の音楽は常に進化し、受け継がれ今も尚進化し続けている・・・。
僕たちが未来に生き続ける以上、変化を恐れては行けないとジミのギターが導く！進化するんだと・・・。
当時ジャズの帝王マイルスデイビスが彼とGIGをしたいとラブコールを送っていたが、実現できずにジミは逝った。マイルスやマイルスの親友でありアレンジの鬼才ギルエバンスもジミの音楽に共鳴し進化し前人未到の境地を切り開いていったアーティストだろう！
追記、このアルバムを聴いていると彼は宇宙人か、未来から来た地球人なのかと思ってしまう。ジミは遠い所に帰っていたのかと・・・
あと派手なライブパフォーマンスが目を引くがそれも宇宙人？ジミヘン！とついつい受け入れてしまう。

これだけはオリジナルのアナログ盤ジャケットじゃなきゃダメです。「crosstown　traffic」は．Richard　Hellのヴァ-ジョンもおすすめです。
