セルソ･フォンセカの名を知らしめたのは、ホナウド・バストスとの三部作の最終作「スローモーション・ボサノヴァ」においてだと思うが、元々プロデューサーとしても数多くの作品を手掛けており、その多彩さは折り紙つきである。2003年のソロ第一作「ナチュラル」も大変真っ当なボサ・アルバムでありながら飛び抜けたセンスと洒脱さで、全く古臭さを感じさせない活き活きとしたアルバムであった。そして、この作品はその「ナチュラル」に続く、2005年のソロ第二作である。

今作においても、驚かされるような特別の変化は感じられない。あくまでも自然体に、ブラジルの美しい風景や空気を水彩画のようなサラッとしたタッチで描いている。とはいえ、今作を聴いていて気付かされるのは、これまでのアルバムより優しいおっとりした曲調が減少し、よりサウダージ=なんともいえないセンチメンタルな情感を催させる音が増えたことだろう。音のタッチで表現するなら、シンプルさの強調であり、リズムの切れが増した感じだ。それはピッチの速さのことではなく、あくまでも一音一音が研ぎ澄まされているという感覚的なものだ。
この人の本当にすごいと思うことは、まさにそこで、数々のアーティストの作品制作に関わり、いろいろな手法を知り尽くしているにも関わらず、自身の作品となると、全く色目を使わずに、ひたすら孤高で突き通すという所だ。それでいて、なぜか古さは全くなく、新鮮で瑞々しさに溢れている。つまり、滅多に現れない真の意味でのアーティストだと言えるだろう。これだけシンプルで聴いた瞬間、違いが分かるというのはすごい。

ボサノヴァです。ジャケットがお洒落。今回はサウダージ感
溢れる切ないうたが中心の、オトナっぽい構成。彼の声は
芯が通っていてとても濃密で、ジルベルトやジョビンのような、
渋くて枯れた魅力とはまた違った趣がある。

ベースラインがほんとうにほんとうに気持ちいいのです。
太くて量感があるのに、ふんわりと宙にうかぶようです。
ギターもたまらなくセクシィ。

正統派のボサノバである。しかし決してアレンジ等古く感じる事は無く新しいことにも取り組んでいる。かといって斬新という事も無く正統派ボサノバファンも気持ちよく聴くことができるだろう。このセルソフォンセカはボサノバという音楽をマスターしてるからこのような正統派の近代ボサノバを生み出すことができるのだろう。
