キレイに佳乃編が終えて、この巻は美凪編である。でも、原作の美凪編は長いのだ。文量的に。
「そんな美凪編をアニメでどう表現するのか？」と思って見たら、不要なシーンはバッサリ切っていた。スタッフ曰く「他にも入れたいシーンはあったけど、（アニメの）時間枠に入らず、削りました」とある。
そうそう美鈴ストーリーも、この巻で急展開しているので、注目だ。
…う〜ん、原作でいえば、美凪編の中盤を殆ど削った（犠牲にした）な。
でも、多大な犠牲を払っての美凪編クライマックスは凄く良い。ほぼ原作の通りのオチだし、そこまでの作画や演出も凄い。やはり背景（夜景）がキレイですし。

AIR3巻。美凪編です。

相変わらずクオリティは高いですが、個人的には演出･カメラワークが最高だと思います。
例えば、学校の屋上。
キャラクターたちに重点を置くのではなく、少し距離をおいてゆっくりと背景を映しています。
同じシーンをキャラクターをアップで映すだけの演出だったら、ここまでの素晴らしさは出てきませんよね。
風の吹き方一つ取っても、本当に素晴らしいと思います。髪の毛のなびき方等が他のアニメにはないクオリティです。

展開は早いですが、内容はとても良かったです。第6話では、3回泣きました･･･。
この通常版のパッケージもすごく素敵です。仲良し二人組♪

前話で佳乃編が完結し、本作では区切りよく美凪・みちる編に入っていく。
尺の関係で速めのテンポで進めなければならなかったようで、
ゆったりした口調が特徴の美凪よりも、みちるや観鈴の登場シーンが多くなっている印象がある。
美凪・みちる編ではあるが、観鈴シナリオも確実に進みつつあることがうかがえる流れで、よくまとまっている。
ただ、仕方のないことではあるが、よくまとまりすぎているのが逆にもどかしい気もした。
原作では往人の思考にあたる地の文が膨大な量に及ぶが、アニメではそれがすべて表現されることはなく、
表情などから自分の主観も交えて読み取ることとなる。
原作をプレイ済みの人は「このシーンで往人は確かあんなふうに感じているんだよな…」と
思い出しながら観ることになるわけだが、この巻では改めて原作の地の文の秀逸さを再認識した。
よくまとまっているアニメ版は傑作に違いないが、
たっぷり時間をかけて言葉を尽くしてくる原作の魅力も再確認できた。

さて、内容面で今回の山場はなんといっても６話のBパートだろう。
美凪・みちる編のクライマックスが描かれる。
特に食卓のシーンは、AIRの中で１、２を争う感動的な場面であると個人的には思っている。
ちょうど折り返しにあたるこの6話で美凪・みちる編が終わり、いよいよ次は観鈴編だ。
ラストは息をつく暇もない展開で次巻へつながっていく。
