   シンガーのアーロン・マーシュはコープランドの2003年のフルレングス・アルバム『Beneath Medicine Tree』は人々を動かすために意図され、その次作は人々をさらに動かすために作られると語った。その差は小さく、1stアルバムが生々しいエモーションと息を飲むようなメロディーの完璧に近いバランスを披露した後では、あれ以上改良の余地はたいしてないと考える多くの人を不安にさせたことだろう。だが、「Your Love Is A Fast Song」や「Pin Your Wings」のような荒々しいポップ・パンクの曲を過ぎると、デビュー作に脈打っていたものと同じ傷ついた心が、『In Motion』のノイズと混乱の奥に隠れていることがわかる。壮大なオーケストラ風の曲、「Kite」「Sleep」だ。マーシュがありきたりな叙情的表現に頼っていることは多少がっかりさせられるし、ケン・アンドリューのやりすぎのプロダクションも同じだが、それでもこのアルバムではバンドが前進している音を聴くことができる。（Aidin Vaziri, Amazon.com）

休日のティータイムに差し込む穏やかな日差し。時折吹くさわやかで涼しい風。かすかに耳に届く、楽しそうに遊ぶ子供のはしゃぎ声…そんな場面にぴったりなアルバムだと思います。ＢＧＭに適しているという意味ではなく、そうすることによって一週間の疲れが癒され、いつの間にか活力が戻ってくる感覚を味わえるのです。読書しながら自然に眠りにつくのもいいし、しっとり聴き込むのもいい。最高の癒しと言われれば確かに否定はできないです。なんか昔から知っていたかのように自然に、そして素直に頭に流れ込んでくるメロディー。懐かしいけど新しい、死ぬまで聴いていけそうなくらいのアルバムです。

米フロリダの4人組エモバンド
コープランドの2nd。

アコースティック楽器の音色を
生かした音づくり。
その繊細で切ないメロディ、
アーロンの
透明感のある高音ヴォーカル、
そして素晴らしいハーモニー。

この2ndでは
北欧のMewを思わせる清涼感と透明感が
より増幅されているように感じる。

エモーショナルでタイトなナンバーから
ミディアム・テンポ、バラードに至るまで
流れるように美しいアレンジで
より美しく、センチメンタルに
そしてドラマティックに
仕上がっている。

ヴォーカルのアーロンは
1stのレコーディング中に恋人が病に倒れ、
祖母の死を経験したという。
だからだろうか、
1stは切なく、儚いイメージが
強く感じられた。

この2ndでは、もちろん
切なさや儚さは感じられるのだが
同時に力強さや希望のような
ポジティブなイメージと
大らかで優しい包容感が感じられる。

苦難を乗り越え
より成長したアーロン、
そして彼を支え、共に歩むバンドの
結束力が感じられる
良いチーム状態が反映された
素晴らしいアルバムだと思う。

エモという枠に囚われず
美しいメロディとハーモニーを愛する
すべてのロック・ファンに聴いてもらいたい作品だ。

COPELANDファンの方はできれば読まないでください。
あまり良い評価ではないので。

Mewのような音を期待している人にはお勧めできません。
たしかに繊細で力強いという点は共通しているのですが、
彼らは日向の住人です。
日陰もしくは闇の中の音を求めていた私としては、
ちょっと期待はずれでした。

でも声はいいですよ、かなり。
もしかするとMewのJonasより女の子みたいかも。
