ミカバンド前夜に発表した2ndアルバム。69年に発表した1stは趣味全開と言った感じで、余り万人ウケしないかも知れないけど、2ndでは全体的にまとまりがあり、かなり聴き易いものになっている。グラム気味のアシッド・フォーク曲「アーサー博士の人力ヒコーキ」はアルバムの中での聴きどころの1つ。ミカバンドの萌芽がここにあり。「魔法にかかった朝」は流麗なギターが最高で、和製ソフトロックと言った感じ。「もしも、もしも、もしも」も同系統かな。「せっかちと●●●●」は初め何か単語が入っていたみたいだけど、差別用語か禁止用語であったらしく、伏せざるをえなくなったが、それを逆手にとって、「●●●●」の部分だけ無音にするという処理を施した。う~ん進んでいる。無国籍風の「魔誕樹の木陰」を、ちょっとだけ細野さん風味。「アルカンシェル」はギターの響きがとにかく美しく、まさに白昼夢。最後にはとろけるようなギタープレイが気持ちいい短めのインスト、「スーパーガス」を収録。妙な演奏が気持ちよく、ギター一本のインストなのにカラフルな印象を受ける。なお、世間でよく認知されている「家をつくるなら」も収録。いい意味でどこにも属していないような人格が窺える、スティールギターの効いた暖かい曲。なお「スーパーガス」という奇妙なタイトルは、スーパーマンのイラストに作者の知り合いの飼い犬「ガスくん」の顔写真をコラージュしたもの。裏ジャケでは加藤氏とミカ元・夫人がガスくんとじゃれている写真も載っている。

「家をつくるなら」と「不思議な日」の超名曲入りの2枚目ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ。CMに起用された「家をつくるなら」はもう少し重い感じだと思ってたら割とポップな感じだった。又坂崎幸之助が物真似をするので有名な「不思議な日」は、私の一番好きな曲で加藤和彦の世界そのものだと思う。この2曲の他にも加藤ワールドが十分味わえるｱﾙﾊﾞﾑだと思う。

フォーククルセダーズ解散後、ソロ２弾目に当たる本作品は、加藤和彦の優しい歌声と松山猛の独特の浮世離れした世界観が楽しめる魅力の一枚です。
一枚フィルターがかかったようなアンニュイな音質は、聴き手によっては「古い」と感じるかもしれません。しかし私は大変リラックスできる親しみやすいものだと思います。
最近のコンピュータ仕掛けの音楽ではこんな雰囲気は醸し出せないのではないでしょうか。
1970年代初頭の混沌とした時代を反映しつつ、以後音楽界で大活躍することになる加藤和彦の「才能」が見え隠れする貴重な必聴盤です。
