『Hanging by a Moment』で大ブレイクした彼らの3rdアルバムである、この『Lifehouse』。
すべての曲をシングルカットしてもおかしくない出来栄えです。

2曲目の『You&Me』はこのアルバムからのリードシングルとしてリリースされ、大ヒットを記録しました。ゆったりとした曲調にジェイソン･ウェイドのハスキーでパッショネイトなヴォイスが綺麗にマッチしており、聞きほれてしまいます。
他にも『All In All』、『Walking Away』なども、彼らの特徴的な流麗なバラードもあれば、アップテンポなナンバーの『Blind』、ハードバラードの『Better Luck Next Time』もあり、バラエティー豊かです。
個人的には＃5、＃9あたりがジェイソンの本領が発揮されているのでお薦めです。

オルタナティヴ・ロックでありながらも、どこか懐かしく、美しいメロディで聞く人を魅了するLifeHouse。
その特徴が顕著に表れているこのアルバム『LifeHouse』を是非聞いてみてください。
あなたも彼らの虜になることは間違いないですから。

ライフハウスの待望の3作目ですが、今回はあえて言うならば、あらかじめ一本芯を創った上でアルバムを構成させた気がします。『You and Me』や『Walking Away』のような前作、前々作に通じる美しいバラードがあれば、『Days Go By』『Undone』『We'll Never Know』のようにアップテンポな気持ちの良い曲もあります。これらの曲は「Hanging~」などよりも『Fairytales~』に近い感じだと思います。今回はこれまでと違い重く感じるような曲はありません。ですが、決してじっくりと聴けないというわけでもなく、一曲一曲を通して素晴らしい出来だと思います。個人的に印象に残ったのは『Come Back Down』「Undone」『You and Me』「Walking Away」でした。前作からのシングル発売が「Spin」だけでしたので、もしかすると今回も先行の『You and Me』だけかもしれません。ですが、その分国内盤、UK盤に収録のボートラにかなり期待出来ると思います。

待ちに待った、Lifehouse３枚目のアルバム。
今のところネットで聴いているだけだが、メロディラインの美しさに磨きがかかり、曲の深みが増して、より切なさが感じられる。
"Days Go By" や "Undone" のように、軽快な曲も健在であることがわかるが、先行シングル"You And Me"に代表されるように、じっくり聴かせる曲が多い。
全体的に落ち着いた感じに仕上がっているため、大人になったという印象を受けるが、"Hanging By A Moment" や "Spin" のような曲をもっと聴きたいと思っている人には、もしかしたら物足りない感じがするかもしれない。
ＵＫ版に入っている "Today" という曲はアップテンポな曲らしく、もう１曲ボーナストラックと "You And Me" のビデオクリップも入っているので、値段が高くなってもよければ、少し待ってそちらを買うか、国内版も４月２１日発売されるので、内容を比べてから、どれを買うか決めるのがよいと思われる。
いずれにせよ、確かな成長を感じさせる１枚となっているので、聴く価値あり。
