掲載中のレビューに誤字と脱字が各１箇所ずつありました。申し訳ありません。ここに訂正させていただきます。

映画「モンティ・パイソンのホーリー・グレイル」をベースに作られた舞台版ミュージカルコメディー「Spamalot」のオリジナル・ブロードウェイ・キャストCDです。　作詞・作曲・脚本をパイソンメンバーのエリック・アイドルが担当。　ストーリーと歌詞はおかしくて笑っちゃいますが、曲や構成は王道を行く超本格派。　２００５年第５９回トニー賞に１４部門ノミネート、３部門受賞（* Best Musical/Spamalot、* Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical/ Sara Ramirez、* Best Direction of a Musical/ Mike Nichols）という快挙を成し遂げました。

「ホーリー・グレイル」からはもちろん、随所にパイソン定番ギャグがちりばめられていてマニアなら大喜び。　パイソンが何かご存じない方でもしっかり楽しめる曲や、有名なミュージカルへのパロディーやオマージュ（それともおちょくり？）などもあり、聞いてみて損はないと思いますよ。
しかも、設定や展開が映画とはいろいろと変えてあるので、「ホーリー・グレイルなら映画で見たしなぁ・・・」という方もぜひチェックしてください。　ひねりが入ってまた別物として大いに楽しめます。

メインキャラクターのアーサー王に「ロッキー・ホラー・ショー」でフランクン・フルター博士を演じたティム・カリー、歌唱力抜群のサラ・ラミレスが“Lady of the Lake”という映画には出てこないキャラクターを熱演。　メインナンバーの“The Song That Goes Like This”と“Find Your Grail”には思わず拍手。　円卓の騎士や従者を演じるキャスト達が映画同様、ほかのサブキャラクターを一人何役も演じ分けているのも見所です。
　
CDはブックレット付きで、うれしい事に収録分のナンバーの全歌詞とト書き、舞台写真が載っています。
パイソンファンならお気に入り間違いなし！　迷わずMust Buy!です。
ちなみに、上演時間約２時間１０分の舞台作品からCDには２５曲およそ５２分が収録されています。　とにかく、こんなにキャストが楽しそうに演じているミュージカル、めったにお目にかかれません！

１９７５年に公開された「モンティ・パイソン・アンド・ホーリー・グレイル」が、２０年の時を経て舞台化。　３年かけて練り上げたこの作品は、第５９回トニー賞ミュージカル作品賞に輝きました。

お話は、キング・アーサーが円卓の騎士を探し出し、その後、神の命により聖杯（ホーリー・グレイル）を探す旅に出るというものです。
しかしこの聖杯とは、キリストが最後の晩さんに用いた聖杯ではなく、王と騎士達各々の「内なる聖杯」、つまり己の魂が求める「何か」を指しています。
彼等が最後にどんな聖杯を見つけるか？これは聞いてのお楽しみでしょう！

今回加筆により新登場したThe Lady of the Lake（サラ・ラミレス）が、純潔の騎士ガラハットを色っぽく誘う場面から、パッツィー達がチアの乗りで「彼（ガラハット）を男にしてやれよ！お前がやらんで誰がやる？」と焚き付ける下りは何度聞いても大笑い！　
その後に続くレディとガラハットのThe Song That Goes Like Thisも見事です。
これ、一聴ロマンチックな曲なんですが、随所に「あんたアタシの足踏んでるわよ」なんて爆笑歌詞が入ってます。
演目テーマであるFind Your Grailも感動！
冒頭のイングランドとフィンランドの勘違いダンスや、出番の無いディーバのドラマチックな恨み節（Whatever Happened To My Part?）も大爆笑！　
Whatever　Happend…で「あたしの役はどこ行っちゃたの？そりゃ私はトニ-賞だって持ってないわよ」と歌ったサラが、この作品でミュージカル助演女優賞を取った事実がまた痛快ですね。
とにかく、お勧めの一枚です。
