奇妙奇天烈バカテク集団、久々の新作♪

彼らの作品はいつもそうなのだが、初めに聞いた印象は意外とパッとしない。だが2回目以降どんどん良くなっていく。今回もそれは例外ではなかった。アルバム通しての中だるみはまったく感じられず、非常にバランスの取れた良い作品だと思う。個人的には1stの頃のハチャメチャ感が好きだったが、今作はシンプルながらもグルーヴの効いた優等生的ヘヴィネスを聴かせてくれている。

全曲良いのですが、その中でも特にお薦めなのが2曲目"PUSHING THROUGH"です。1stアルバムの"INTERNAL PRIMATES FOREVER"を彷彿とさせる曲で思わずヘッドバンキングしたくなります。また5曲目の"FALL INTO SLEEP"もいいです。鳥肌の立つようなヴォーカルが印象的なこの曲はメンバーもお気に入りの1曲だそうです。

またハッとさせられたのがボートラの”GOOD BYE”である。彼らの内面に潜む美しくメロディアスな感情が曲に表現されており、ますます彼らのことが好きになりました。

本当にありえないくらいすばらしいです！三作目にしてこのまとまり具合はすごすぎます！DIGのPVで一目惚れをしてからずっとこのバンドを追っていますが、どんどん良くなって行きますね！今作は二作目の「狂気的な悲しさの曲」にさらに悲しさを足したかんじです。DETERMINEDやHAPPY?にすごく「らしさ」を感じ、おもわずニヤリとしてしまいました(笑)一曲一曲もさることながらCD全体の構成としても文句無しです！どういう風に育ったら彼らのような感性がつくのか、いつも不思議に思います。必聴です！

ギャーッツと叫んで、バャーと叫んで、ギャーッツ。泣きじゃくりながら「子どもの頃俺を拘束した悪魔」を撃っている「ロスト・アンド・ファウンド」。なんと力強い叫びなのだろうか。的確に「子どもの頃俺を拘束した悪魔」を把握している。その攻撃の精度も高い。しかし、「子どもの頃俺を拘束した悪魔」もさるモノ引っかくモノ、反撃もきっちりくる。マッドヴェインの心臓を突く。脳が破られる。全身に地震と雷が溢れかえっていることが良く分かる。それでも怖いけれどもノンなのだ。悪魔にノンの意志を明らかにするために、激しく泣きじゃくっている。強がったりしない。コワイものはコワイ。ただ、マッドヴェインは泣きっぱなしじゃない。頭脳に満ちる思考が炎となっていることが伝わってくる。そのためにアタシには強烈な泣きじゃくりが、悪魔を撃つ鋼の剣となっているように見える。ロックと演歌、ロックとブルースの決定的な差がここにある。そこへリズム。ドラムスのそれではない。雁字搦めに抑圧されているアメリカ人の自律と自由の点滅である。弱拍で自律。強拍で自由。自律・自由が連鎖し打ち乱れる八連拍の点滅である。悪魔の悪辣に抗するヒトの自律意識と自由意志の溌剌の律動である。アメリカンロックの一つの達成といえる。
