バックがジョーパスのギター一本なので非常に地味な感じだけど
さすがに大御所
渋い良い演奏を聴かせてくれます

ただエラが復帰後一作目だからか
歳を重ねて落ち着いたのかわからないけど
以前のキレというか、大胆さはない気がする
まぁバラードばかりなのでそんなものなのかもしれない

どちらかと言えば次作の「エラ&パス　アゲイン」の方がよいかも

エラの全盛期はデッカ時代とそれに続くヴァーヴ初期辺りまでだと思うが、パスのギター一本で聞かせるこのアルバムは、エリス・ラーキンスのピアノをバックに歌った往年の名作が、もしこのくらいきれいな音で吹き込まれていたら、と思わせるだけの出来には仕上がっている。さすがにエラの声の衰えはどうすることも出来ないが、ステレオの前に腰を据えて、まんじりともせずに聞くのではなく、さりげなくあたりに流し続けていると、何とも言えない柔らかな気分になって、時間のたつのも忘れてしまう。
続編も同様の出来。
ヴォーカル・ファンなら二つとも持っていて損はない。
