　MJQでジョン・ルイスに抑圧され仮面を着けたプレイに徹していたミルト・ジャクソンが、ここでは志向を同じくするホレス・シルバーの好サポートのもと、本来彼の音楽性であるブルージでダウン・トゥ・アースなプレイを見せている。要は仮面をかなぐり捨て自分の音楽性をフルに発揮しているのである。第一曲の「ワンダー・ホワイ」からそれは十分感じ取れるであろう。というか、はっきり言ってしまえばMJQよりもこちらのほうがはるかにジャズっぽい。MJQは白人をターゲットにしたソフトなジャズ（何せジョン・ルイスがバッハに傾倒していることは有名だから）だが、こちらはリスナーをあまり意識していない（白人のスノッブなジャズ・ファンに売ろうとしていない！）ために、かえってミルト・ジャクソンの魅力が遺憾なく発揮されている。
　MJQで彼のファンになった層にはアピールしないアルバムかもしれない。しかし、あちらはあくまで猫をかぶったプレイで、もしろこちらが本音のプレイなのである。
