良質のメロディアスロックを地道ながら確実に提供し続ける英国Heartlandの9thアルバム。エモーショナルなVo. ChirisOuseyと流麗なメロディラインのG. SteveMorrisがまたも期待を裏切らずに良質のアルバムを聴かせてくれました。
彼らのアルバムは特に5th「Miracles By Design」から楽曲の質が上がったと感じていますが、今回のアルバムはさらにステップアップした様子を窺わせています。Grand Illusionのメンバーが曲作りとヴォーカルに参加したとのこと、その影響かもしれませんがどの曲もフックの利いたメロディが際立って印象に残り、またコーラスが重厚に響いているのが目立ちます。
実際どの曲も優位つけ難く、これぞメロディアスハードロックの好盤と言えるアルバムです。MR.BIGのEricMartinを想起させるVo.と共に楽曲を盛り上げるギターソロも注目です。
メロディを重視したロックが好きな方にぜひお薦めします。

　これまでこのバンドの評価は、評論家と一般リスナーとの間に随分温度差が
感じられたものだが、今作に関しては双方の一致を見ることができるのではな
いか。メロディ作りの過程において、同じエスケープミュージックに所属する
GRAND ILLUSIONのメンバーの手を借りたことで、これまで弱いと指摘されて
きた歌メロが格段に強化され、クリス・ウーズィー本来の歌唱の魅力が伝わり
やすくなった。また、レーザー光線のような独特の音色で次々とおいしいソロ
を決めるスティーブ・モリスの職人技Ｇも相変わらず冴えている。
　毎回アルバムに1~2曲は入っている決めの1曲は、名曲「Conquer All」の
再来とでもいうべき11で堪能出来るが、今回はそれ以外の曲も粒ぞろいだ。個
人的には名盤とされる1stより好きかも。

　もはやメロディ派リスナーにとっては信頼のブランドとも言える彼らだが、今回もやはり安心して聴ける、内容充実の好盤に仕上がった。

　前作では若干メロディの叙情性に不足が感じられたが、今回は、こちらもメロディ派からの支持が厚いGRAND ILLUSIONのメンバーが制作に全面協力、一層磨きを掛けられたメロディが輝きを放っている。

　そのGARND ILLUSIONから２人のシンガーがバック・ボーカルを担当、これまで以上に分厚いハーモニーがメロディの美しさをより増幅させている。

　クリス・ウーズィ<Vo>のエモーショナルな歌唱、スティーヴ・モリス<G>の表情豊かなギタープレイの素晴らしさは今回も不変。

　そろそろこの内容に見合った正当な評価を得て貰いたいものだ。
