このような作品を発表してくる彼女の存在は私にとってとても頼もしいものだ。

ここに歌われるは、日本情緒溢るる一つの主題と七つの情景。
それらがピアノやピアニカ、アコースティックギターやヴァイオリンといった、CDを媒体にした彼女のパフォーマンスではもう定番ともいえる生楽器の音色で彩られ、更に「風の子」では和太鼓を、そして「とうとやつめに」では三味線も聴くことができ、そういった器楽的な面からこの作品の主題とされる「和」の雰囲気を十分に堪能することができる。

そして何より矢野絢子の声と詩がある。
「燐光」という歌が最後に歌われており、私は彼女の音色に耳を澄ませながら歌詞を眺めていたのだが、私はついつい遠い目をして歌詞カードから焦点を失ってしまった。そうして溢れる涙で情景は滲んでしまうのだけれど、滲んだ景色はまた水彩画のように美しいものだ。
この歌の一節にはこうある。

―変わり続けて形を変えて
　汚れながらきれいになるよ

これは想いが思い出へとなる一連のように私には思えた。
人が何かを思い出すということは同時にその何かが今目の前にはないことを思い知らせる。ならば、彼女の歌を聴き容易に懐古趣味にふける現代人の生活の営みを、一方で我々は寂しく感じているのかもしれない。
いずれにせよ、この作品がそういった古き良き日本情緒を思い起こさせるだけの力を秘めていることに相違ないだろう。

彼女の歌を聴き我々日本人が知っている何時かの何処かの風景を思い出すように、いつの日かそのような風景を前に彼女の歌が思い出されたとき、きっと私はそれを幸せに思うだろう。

最後の「燐光」と言う1曲を聴く為だけにも、￥２１００だす価値有り。ピアノとストリングスのシンプルなサウンドのこの曲ほど矢野絢子らしさが出ている曲だと思う。21世紀のこんな時代にこの様な詩と歌声があるだけでも奇跡！しかし矢野絢子の才能はこんな物では無い！これらの作品はまだまだ氷山の一角である。ダイヤモンドの原石はどんどん輝きをまして進化する！！

通して聞くと、田舎で夏を過ごしているような感覚になります。

倉の中、闇の本当の暗さ。
お祭りの立ち昇るような熱気。
老婆の言葉の重み。
夜の川の光。

芯の通った強い(でもやわらかい)声と、ピアノと和楽器のバランスの良さ。
この中に描かれているのは、紛れもなく日本の夏です。
