シベリウスの入門者、シベリウスを聴きたいがまず何を聴いていいかわからない方、
まず、これを買って聴いてください！きっとシベリウスの世界を堪能できるでしょう。
選曲も、カレリア組曲、フィンランディアといった親しみやすいものから、管弦楽
曲の名曲、日本で特に人気の高い交響曲第２番、ヴァイオリン協奏曲、など、入門には
ぴったりの選曲です。その上、演奏者も超一流。演奏も超一流で、この価格。
大変なお買い得です。
おりしも２００７年はシベリウスの没後５０年。シベリウスメモリアルイヤーです。
さあ、あなたも今年のクラシックトレンドに乗り遅れないようにシベリウスを聴きましょう！

オッコ・カムのシベリウスの2番の演奏は、彼がカラヤン指揮者コンクールで優勝した時の記念録音で、
私は当時中学生で、この演奏で初めてこの曲を知り、非常に感動を覚えたものであった。今聞くとその時の感動を思い出す。
演奏は非常にドライブ感の強いバスオスティナートが生き生きとした高揚をもたらす最終楽章など今でも素晴らしいと思う。
カレリア組曲もとてもいい演奏、2楽章など非常によい。全体的に彼の演奏は低音部が雄弁でちょっと一味違う味わいを残す。

カラヤンの演奏は私などが今更言うまでもない名演。実は私はカラヤンの残した数々の交響曲の名演奏の中で、
このアナログ録音時代にグラモフォンに残した一連のシベリウスの演奏をもっとも高く買う。
カラヤンの演奏はどれも第一級だと思うのだが、どこか作りめいた印象をいつも残すところがある。
一連のシベリウス（これ以外に４、６、７番の交響曲）には、透明度の高いベルリンフィルの演奏とともに
純粋に音楽に奉仕しているといった雰囲気がある。バイオリン協奏曲の演奏も同様だが、ここではクリスチャン・フェラス
の演奏にも触れたい。フェラスは再評価されても良い。決してカラヤンに“つぶされて”などいないと思う。

数あるシベリウスのＣＤの中から迷ったすえ、このアルバムを購入しましたが買って正解でした♪
安価な上、内容も充実しており良い買い物をしたと満足してます。
２枚組で『交響詩《フィンランディア》』『交響曲第２番』『ヴァイオリン協奏曲二短調』などシベリウスの名曲の数々が収録されています。
指揮はカラヤンとオッコ・カム。演奏はベルリン・フィル。（『カレリア組曲』のみヘルシンキ放送交響楽団）
オッコ・カムさんはシベリウスと同じフィンランド生まれ。元はヴァイオリン奏者で、指揮は独学で勉強。
カラヤン指揮者コンクールで見事優勝し指揮者に転向したという経歴の持ち主で、シベリウスにはとても定評のある指揮者さんです。
このＣＤに収録されているカムとベルリン・フィルの『交響曲第２番』は素晴らしいです。名演奏と言っても良いと思います。(1970年録音)
カラヤンの『フィンランディア』『ヴァイオリン協奏曲二短調』も秀逸です。(1965年録音)
1960〜70年代といえばカラヤンが一番脂が乗ってた時期ではないでしょうか。その多様でスケールの大きい演奏に魅了されます。
私は昔から『フィンランディア』が大好きで、この曲が持つ魅力にハマってます。
前半ドロドロと暗く悲しいメロディが延々続いた後、一転パァーっと明るくダイナミックな曲調に変わる。このアンチテーゼが大好きです。
絶望から希望へ―。この曲が当時ロシアの支配に苦しんでいたフィンランド人に勇気を与えたというのも頷けます。
いずれカムの『フィンランディア』や合唱曲『フィンランディア賛歌』も是非聴いてみたいです。
