5.0 out of 5 stars DVDで発売されたのはファンには嬉しい事です。, 2005/10/1
１９８８~１９９４年のＯＶＡをＤＶＤ-ＢＯＸとしてまとめられたもので、鬼環祭・幻影城・櫻花豊穣　そして週刊ヤングジャンプ創刊１５周年記念で作られた真孔雀王上下のセットです。
個人的にいうと鬼還祭が当時書かれていた原作の絵に最も近いと思います、あとは作画さんによってかなり違っています。　幻影城はあの内容を４５分に無理に入れた為、台詞回しが大変早いです。　櫻花豊穣は内容もアニメーションもすっきりとした感じで特殊な音の演出なんかされてます。
記念作の真孔雀王はりんたろう監督のもと、何もかもが大変美しく凝ってます。本多俊之さんのサウンドも良いです。　が、昔っからのファンにとっては別物のアニメとしか見れないようです。（とにかく主人公のキャラが１８０°違います、声優陣も全て一新！）
ですが、ＯＶＡとの形を取っていますが原作に近いストーリー内容になっていますので孔雀王を好きな方はコレクションとして持っておいても良いかと思います。

どちらにせよ海外版しかなかったＤＶＤ孔雀王が日本産で出たのは嬉しい事です。

孔雀王に出会って、人生観や宗教観等人生に対して、色んな事に影響を受けた作品です。
規模の小さな魔物を退治していた孔雀は大好きでした。
そこには必ず人間としての行き方がメッセージとして伝わっていたからです。
一番好きな話は原作の「桜花豊穣」で、「木々に豊穣を人の心に花を」の言葉を今でもたまに思い出しては感動しています。
