73年作。力強く美しく目まぐるしいピアノを中心としたプログレ。ジャズ色が強いが、クラシカルな気品も持ち合わす。とにかくシンプル、ピアノ以外のキーボード類はほとんど使わず、ほぼピアノ・ギター・ベース・ドラム・ボーカルの地味な構成だが、次々表情を変え荒々しい勢いと気品で迫るピアノが非常にカッコイイので、地味とは感じない。むしろダイナミックでドラマチック。せわしないピアノに振り落とされずに付いていくリズム隊や、鋭いギターもカッコイイ。ボーカルもイタリアらしい美しく心地良いメロディでなかなか魅力的。かなり気に入っている作品、私の愛聴盤です。
「オンの中庭」は冒頭の激しいピアノに翻弄され目が回る。クラシックの端正さと暗い色合を浮かべたピアノが攻撃的にたたみかけ、ギターが飛び交ってアクセントをつける。歌はとても耳馴染み良い。情熱的。「高らかなる歌声」はジャジーに疾走。歌はイタリアらしい情念が滲む。渋いエレピソロ、その背後で激しくなっていくピアノに興奮。更にそのままの勢いで吹き荒れ続けるピアノに歌やギターが重なっていく後半部は実にカッコイイ！「アリステア」はピアノとギターが絡み合う展開から始まるが、やがてピアノとギターは流麗なメロディに変化、伸びやかで感動的な歌が響く。頭上に満天の星空が広がっていくような美しい間奏…が、最後は切迫した展開へ。「リャリャ」は慌しいピアノから始まるが、歌が始まるとロマンがきらめく。お洒落、うっとりするような美しさ。「帰路」は中盤の暗く寂しい歌声が良い。その陰鬱に沈んだ展開を打ち砕き飛び込むピアノ、続くクールなエレピソロ…終幕へ向かって転げ落ちていくような後半インスト部は実にスリリング！しびれる。

　イタリア出身のプログレ・バンドの、’７３年発表のデビュー作。
　このバンドの顔は、何と言ってもピアノだ。縦横無尽、自由奔放に、けたたましく疾走し、それにドラムが負けじと踏ん張り、控え目なギターがさり気なく技を決める、といった具合だ。
　演奏主体のジャズ・ロック調で、イタリアならではの大仰さ、ドラマティックな展開は希薄だが、歌メロで、らしいロマンティックなメロディが登場し、しっかりとした歌唱力のあるヴォーカルで聞かせてくれる。
　一聴しただけでは、疾風の如く勢いで、あっというまに過ぎ去ってしまうだけかもしれない。けれども、ピアノに対するこだわりや、それをシンプルかつパワフルに表現するというスタイルからは、緊張感と独自の個性が伝わってくる。
　装飾を廃し、ライヴ的な感覚を強く意識したであろう、本格派の内容と言えよう。

イタリアン・プログレ全盛期73年発表の、同バンド唯一作。

一曲目なんかは、生ピでタルカスやるとこんなかなといった印象。
どの曲にもいえるのは、目立つピアノと粗暴なリズム隊の二本柱。
音割れしちゃってるような箇所も少しあり、一聴では印象が悪いか。
しかし慣れれば、この粗暴と繊細が絶妙のバランスになってくる。
ときに大胆な、ときに技巧的な、清々しいピアノの響きを全編に湛えつつ、
同時に巨大な斧で大木を彫刻していくような暴力的ダイナミズムもそなえる。

先にタルカスを挙げたが、全五曲、かの名盤タルカスにけっして劣らない。
まあ、タルカスはこの種のオリジネイターということで、どうしても別格扱いだが。

ここにもっと現音風味があったら、ダントツでフェイバリットになってたろうなぁ…
いやいや、このままでも十分にフェイバリットな作品なんですがね。
