　イタリア出身のプログレ・バンドの、’７２年発表の唯一の作品。
　アグレッシヴなギター・サウンドがフィーチャーされており、ハード・ロック的なアプローチが施されているが、楽曲はジャズ・ロック調で、それが更に自由奔放な演奏に繋がり、ドラム、キーボードと一体となって、かなりハード＆へヴィな音作りとなっている。
　けれども、イタリアン・ロックならではの哀愁あるメロディの楽曲がしっかりしており、押すだけではなく、引くところはしっかり引いていて、アコースティック・ギター、キーボード、ストリングスなどで、しっとりと落ち着きのある、シンフォニックな場面もあり、起伏に富んでいる。
　同時に、曲によって大胆に変化する歌い方のヴォーカルと、コーラス・ワークも効果的だ。
　加えて、凝ったジャケットの作りも素晴らしい。
　バンドの持つエネルギーを、このアルバム一枚に全て詰め込んだかのような濃厚な作風だが、聴きやすさも併せ持った、完成度の高い作品である。

とにかく熱い！ドラマチックな歌唱、荒々しく暴れまくるギターとオルガン、畳み掛けるリズム…歌も演奏も、熱い情念がたぎり、爆発している。J.E.T.はプログレだけをやっていたハードロックバンドではないが、７２年に唯一残したアルバムはヘヴィでシンフォニックなプログレ。「聖杯物語」が題材。ブルージー、ジャジー、クラシカル…と様々に曲調を変化させ、重厚な大作もいくつか作り上げているが、どの曲も歌を大切にした作りになっている。イギリスのハードロックの強い影響を受けたサウンドだが、ボーカルには実にイタリアらしい叙情・ロマンがあふれている。粗雑さ・田舎くささはあるものの、それもまた味、むしろ作品の持つ圧倒的な勢いを増強しているようにも思う。
表題曲「消えゆく希望の灯」は荒れ狂うギターとクラシカルなオルガンが激しく交錯しメロディアスなボーカルが哀愁をぶつけてくる非常にドラマチックな大作。途中、突然現れるジャズピアノがカッコイイ。
「聖人、罪人」は二人のボーカルがそれぞれ罪人と聖人（司祭）の役を演じて対話する演劇的で壮大な大作。中盤、神の声が入ってくる部分はあまりにドラマチック。
「王に捧げるシンフォニア」はかなりの名作。荒々しくハードな演奏とクラシカルで荘厳なオルガン・ピアノが絡み合い、どこまでも美しく感動的に迫ってくる。夜の闇、ちらつく光、そっと星空を見上げると涙が静かに頬を伝っていくような…聞いているとそんな気分になる。少しだけ入ってくるバイオリンの悲しげな調べが非常に印象的。
「怒り」はジャジーに飛び跳ねるピアノに乗せてボーカルが叫び狂い（歌詞はない）激しいオルガンソロ、ギターソロを披露していく攻撃的なナンバー。ただただカッコイイ！

マスタ−の問題？
音質が悪い。ところどころで音が割れている。

でも楽曲は最高。最高にイタリアン・プログレをかましてる。
緊張感なら、Il Balletto Di Bronzoの『Ys』に負けてない。
曲の方向性は違う。『Ys』より歌モノだし、メロディに力を入れている。
聴いていて、バカ正直なテンションに涙が出る。

細かな評価は他の方にお願いして、音質面が残念。
でも、これ以上の音質向上が望めないなら、イタリアン・プログレ好きは買うべき。
