実際に買って聞いてみましたが、オムニバスとも呼べない、本当に「ダイジェスト盤」です。
１枚のＣＤに４５曲を短い時間で詰め込んでます。
しかしながら、ベニー・グッドマン、グレン・ミラーやデューク・エリントンなどの超定番モノから、
秋吉敏子やバディ・リッチ、ジョン・ピザレリなども含んでいて、
ジャズの古き良き定番の中で、自分の趣味にぴったりの「バイブル」を探す
手がかりにはなりそうですね。
私もこれを聞いて自分の趣味に合いそうなアーティストのＣＤをこれから買おうと思います。

スウィングジャズの数々の名曲から選び抜かれた名演奏。その演奏のいいとこだけを、編集して集めてあるそうです。
名曲がたくさん集めてあるのは嬉しいですが、それぞれの曲のいいとこだけ…というのになんだか違和感を感じてしまいました。きれいに編集して聞きやすいよう作られているとは思うけど、やっぱ最初から最後まで通しての流れや盛り上がりがあるもんでしょ？！と。編集によっては、楽曲の素晴らしさを奪いかねないような…。
とはいえ、スウィングジャズの入門として、まずどんな曲があるかを知りたいなら、これはかなりおいしいCDかもしれません。ちゃんと聞きたくなったらきっと物足りなくなります。このCDをきっかけに極めていくのもいいかも。
