すっかり静のヴォーカリスト代表といった感のUAだが、本作も極端に起伏の少ない旋律とサウンドで多彩な世界を浮かび上がらせている。フル・アルバムをひとりの人と作る経験がなかった、という彼女が今回選んだのが内橋和久。ナイス・チョイスでした。

今までのＪ-ＰＯＰらしいＵＡさんから、違うＵＡさんになられたみたいです。
今まではＵＡさんの声はどこか寂しげに私には感じられました。
それを聞いていると、どうしても悲しい気分になってしまって駄目だったのですが、その寂しさのようなものが感じられなくなった気がしました。

このアルバムのＵＡさんの声を聞いていると、とにかくリラックスできます。
ＵＡさんの声がまるで自然の音の一つのようです。
時には空のように澄み渡り、時には森の奥の泉のようにしっとりと。
色んな音を一つに合わせて、ＵＡさんの“自然”を作り出したように感じられました。

たしかにこれだけのメンバーを揃えたならばもっと売れる作品に仕上げることはできたと思う。
ただ僕はここまで「音」というモノにこだわったこの「Breathe」に五点を付けたいと思います。
改めて音楽とはホントに素晴らしいと感じさせてくれた名盤です。

「sun」に比べるとさらに、ゆったりまったり聴けます。でも、歌詞はと言うと、単に自分の人生とカブるからなのかもしれないけど、深いんです。今までも、UAの歌詞にはいろいろと考えさせられてきたけど、今回なんか妙に、癒されるんです。曲調とあいまってとてもイイ、心が治りそうなる。
