Digitally Remastered Reissue of the Siren's Debut Album. It's One of the Classic English Summer Albums, Recorded in the Mid 1980's Before Ambient Music Became Popular. She also Happens to Be the Sister of Recording Artist and who Remixer Jon Astley and Pete Townshend's Sister-in-law.

この人はピアノとフルートを操る女性アーティストです。元々はケイト・セント・ジョン（ＥＸ-ＤＲＥＡＭＡＣＡＤＥＭＹ、現在はソロ）とニッキー・ホランド（ＥＸ-ＴＥＡＲＳ　ＦＯＲ　ＦＥＡＲＳ、現在はソロ）というそうそうたるメンバーとラビッシュ・ビューティーズというグループで活動していました。その後、リチャード・ジョブソン（ＥＸ-ＳＫＩＤＳ）の朗読アルバムで共演し、そのリチャードと関係の深いラッセル・ウェブとの共同作業によって、はじめてソロ名義でリリースされたのがこのアルバム。全曲ピアノを中心に据えたナチュラルなインストで構成されています。彼女の故郷である英国のオックスフォードシャーで採録された実際の自然の音-小鳥のさえずり、動物の鳴き声、爽やかな初夏の風、教会の鐘の音など-と、彼女の紡ぎ出すこの上なく自然な佇まいのピアノの響きが織り成す美しい風景。英国ののどかな田園風景をそのまま切り取った、ひとときのサウンド・スケープが出来るアルバム。本当に自然でさりげなく、妖精のささやきまでも聞こえそうな美しいサウンドで魅了されます。この後も自身のヴォーカルをフューチャーした傑作アルバムを次々とリリースしました。現在も活動はしていますが、この頃の様な輝きと瑞々しさを持った作品は作れないでしょう。彼女もそれを分かっているようです。それだけ、今をもっても輝きつづける珠玉の作品。素晴らしいです。

朝靄がまだ消えやらぬ森の中、小鳥のさえずりがあちこちで聞こえ始めやがて
ぼんやりと陽ざしが白いカーテンを通り越してゆく。。
朝のヒンヤリとした空気を感じながらけだるさの中で目を覚ます。

気がつけば風の匂いももう初夏の頃。。。
そんなイメージでつづられたなにげない一日の平和で幸せな断片。

このCDではすべてアストレイ自身が唄うのではなく
ピアノをひき、彼女の生活の中の感じた事を「音」で表現している。
たとえば「ママ〜」と子どもが
呼び掛けるような声を（音）で表現をしたり、牛やヤギの声（音）、
光がキラキラするような陽ざしがさしこんで来るような風景の（音）、
出だしで聞かれる小鳥のさえずり（音）もその一つ。

聞いていると時は刻んでいるのにまるで
止まっているかのような、、
そんな不思議な空間に入り込んだような錯角さえ覚えてしまう。

音からそこにある風景が目の前に
やわらかく、そして優しく広がってゆく。
その心地よさは
女性が持つ繊細な心の目を通して描かれた音による風景画。

以前シンフォレストから発売されていたCD-ROM
KATAN DOLL／カタンドール(天野可淡）でも使用されていた

天野可淡さんもこの曲がお気に入りだったそうです。

心が疲れた時、お勧めのCD。

前々からきになってはいたものの手をださずにいたこのアルバムやっと聴けました。
あー、期待以上に素晴らしいです。
一曲目の小鳥の声で傑作だとわかりました。
お上品なピアノやフルートをふんだんに使った、癒し（微妙な言い方…）なサウンド。
全曲インストだったのがちょっと意外でしたがそんなことがどうでもよくなるような天国的な美しさです。
