公開より10数年経ちますが、いまだに私のお気に入りの10本指から外せない作品です。スコットとフランがダンススタジオ屋上のコカコーラの看板の前で踊るシーン。時間の変化と共に表情を変える空のもと、キラキラとした看板の前に二人の姿が映えて、すごくいい。洗練なんてものは抜きに、ここは何度見ても綺麗だと思うシーン。ストーリーは単純。リラックスして楽しい映画を観たい時におすすめです。社交ダンスをテーマにした映画に少しでも興味があるようでしたら、迷わずこの作品を見て下さい。

　高校生の時に作品知識もないまま観たのが初めてでしたが、段々と入り込み、最後は鼻息荒く興奮していたのを覚えています。自分も何かひとつ誇れるものが欲しい、と何かワクワクに似た突き動かされるような衝動を感じた瞬間でした。
　美しくしなやかに、また力強く動く主人公の体が、男の人ながらとてもセクシー！また、冴えない万年補欠から、洗練された女性へと変化していくヒロインと一緒に、建物の屋上でダンスレッスンするシーンは、バックで流れる「time　after time」と相まってすごくせつなく幻想的・・・今も昔も大っっっ好きです。
　周りの登場人物も愛すべきキャラばかりだし、主人公の両親の隠された過去も興味をひかれます。ヒロインの父がこわい顔で主人公にリズムを叩き込むところなどは、女の立場から見ててハラハラするような嬉しいような複雑な気持ちになったりもしたり。
　感情の高まりをスカッとさせてくれる爽快なラストも文句なし！
是非一度観て欲しい逸品です。

終盤二人が踊るパソドブレ、とにかくここだけは観て欲しい映画です。
主流となりつつあるCG映画などでは絶対に作り出すことは不可能であろう
鬼気迫るダンス。心が震えると思います。

ダンサーにとってダンスとはなにか、
パソドブレを教えてくれた人々やかつて夢をあきらめた父の諭しから、
大会の結果ではなく踊ることそれ自体に意味を見出した主人公の姿に
心からの拍手を贈りたくなる、そんな素晴らしい映画です。
