前作のセカンドアルバムが長編小説なら、今回の３ｒｄアルバムは短編小説集。
名前の通り８つの曲＋インスト２曲が入ってる。
セカンドアルバムを聴いたときもファーストからの進歩に驚いたが、今回も意欲的な挑戦とその成果が感じられる。
EGO-WRAPPIN' 等とはまた一味違うジムノペディの「歌謡ロック」と称される独特の世界は健在。
それでいて新しいことに果敢に挑戦している。
個人的に気になるのは、ファーストは生々しいエロチシズムとファンタジーが見事に合わさっていたが最近ファンタジーに少し偏っている気がする。
あの見事な結合もジムノペディを押し上げた原動力の１つだと思うので、大切にしてほしいところだ。
一貫した成長をし続けているジムノペディは、まだまだ成長していくだろう。

2005 年にリリースされたジムノペディの 3rd. アルバム。
全 10 曲入りですが、そのうち 2 曲（練習曲）はその後に続く曲の "枕" （導入）の意味合いなので
「 "8つ" の小品」ということですね。

「ジムノペディ」というバンド名は言わずと知れたエリック・サティ（1866-1925）の代表曲から取って
いますが、サティが堅苦しいイメージのクラシック音楽を大衆に優しいリラックスして聴ける形で表現
したように、日本の「ジムノペディ」もそれぞれの曲の中でそれぞれの世界を創りあげているような
"浸れる" 音楽を演っているように感じます。

私のお気に入りはシングルにもなった <4>「スタッカート」かな。ちなみにこの曲の印象的なイントロの
メロディは <10>「テヌート」の後半でもリプライズされ、アルバム全体のイメージを固めるのに一役
買っています。

リズム隊のグルーブや 5 拍子のインストを入れたりするところなど、確かにジャズっぽいサウンドが
ベースとなっていると思う（アルバムタイトルとかそれぞれの曲名を見るとクラシックっぽいですけどね）
のですが、その中で鳴り響くヘヴィなロック・テイストを醸し出すギターサウンドが（これが全然浮いて
いなくて）すごく新鮮です。
いくらノスタルジックなムードを感じるといっても、これを「昭和」と表現しちゃダメですよねー。昭和の
時代にはこんないろんな要素を取り入れたスタイリッシュなサウンドはなかったゾ。

ちなみに最後の <10>「テヌート」が一段落した後、しばらく無音状態で流し続けると、最後の最後に
ちょっとしたオマケがありますのでお聴き逃しなく。

収録曲の記載がまだありませんが、“片道キャンドル”と“メリル”は着うたサイト「musicbus」で聴くことが出来ます。収録曲も記載されてます。”片道キャンドル”は、”ジェリー”が好きな方は、きっと気に入ると思います。”ジェリー”よりも、もっとアップテンポな曲です。”メリル”の方は、”恋じかけのワルツ”に似てますね。どちらの曲調も、ジムノペディの得意な分野だと思います。他の曲は、まだ聴いたことはございませんが（既発のシングル除く）、きっと期待を裏切らないアルバムになること間違いなしですね。
