まさしくVAIの魔術的な世界。よく聞くとどの曲もかなり難解な構成、テーマを持っていると感じるが、さらっと1時間弱聞くこともできる。決してポップではないし、友達に「これいいよ」と薦めるようなものでもないが、今までの彼のどのCDよりもその気迫が伝わってくる作品だ。また、面子を見て、テクニカルなものは嫌いだ、という意見はよく聞かれるだろうが、この作品はそうではないし、そもそも他ジャンルのリスナーはそんなことを気にしているだろうか。確かにオープニングでいきなりテクニカルな両手タッピング爆発だが、コンサートでもそれを軽々こなしていたことからも、彼は既にあらゆるテクニックを自分の思い通りに使いこなし、またそこから解放されているだけなのだ。純粋に音楽としてきいてほしい。

Steve Vaiほど優れたミュージシャン(演奏家)｣でありがなら
同時に類まれなる才能を発揮する｢アーティスト(芸術家)｣ギタリストは稀有ではないだろうか？
彼はアルバムを｢曲の集合体｣としてではなく
ビジュアライズされた作品群を紡ぎあげて壮大な物語を構築する
さながら現代に生きる吟遊詩人の様だ
本作は三部作における｢序章」であり全作品が揃った後に
全編を正しいストーリーに並べ替えて紡ぎなおすそうである
なんと気の遠くなるような壮大なストーリーに出会ってしまったんだろう

プレビューで聞きました。
今作は３部作の一発目だそうで、ファンにはもはや驚きではない（笑
元々はHRの人なのだが、根にJazzがあるせいか、作を重ねるごとに絵
を描くようなギターが顕著になってきました。やはりZAPPA組。
同様の作風を持つギタリストにパットメセニーがいますが、この人を
端的に現せばHR界のパットメセニーって感じですね。
HR的には変態でも、HRとモダンジャズの融合（つまりフュージョン）
だと思えば納得できる音です。
高校時代から追いかけていますが、最近特にそう思います。
まあ、HRで名を売った人だし、ご本人も好きなんでしょうが、この人の
場合、あくまでもテクスチャーとしてのHRですね。
個人的には２度と実現するまいと思っていたビリーシーン参加が嬉しい。
今後も楽しみです。
パットのピカソギター、この人に弾いてもらいたいなあ。
